What music are you listening to?

Hi Arif! Don't think you have been officially welcomed yet, so welcome!
I liked your other posts and thanks for tempering my preconceptions about Muslims by noting your taste in music!

Thanks for the welcome!

I think a lot of people would be surprised to see that many Muslims like metal - I also love Portishead, which is far from metal, and my wife (also Muslim) loves rock - classic rock mostly

I'll say welcome as well....but that music is scary...

Thank you - glad to be here!

I agree - it's a bit scary and that's a little of why I like it - kind of like enjoying a scary movie or ride. The thing about Meshuggah I love is the unique rhythms and also the lyrics. Some refer to them as "progressive metal" - I just say "they rock".

If I were to recommend an intro to Meshuggah I'd say check out the album "Destroy Erase Improve" with the songs "future breed machine" & "soul burn".
Also the album "Nothing" with the song "closed eye visual" - always checklng out the lyrics - yeah

Jane's Addiction & Danzig (4)

Jane's Addiction is one of my favorite bands, not #1, but in the top five. I never got to see them in concert, but I did go see Perry when he went on to do Pornos for Pyros.

Danzig 4 is my favorite Danzig album - best songs: "Going down to die" & "I don't mind the pain".

Stand By Me performed by the Kingdom Gospel Choir at Prince Harry and Megan Markle's wedding. It was okay, not the best nor the worst that I've heard. *shrug*

Agreed. I appreciate the effort at inclusion, if not the song’s execution.

Children's Miracle Network radiothon (which includes music along with the interviews.) The last interview was of a Mexican lady whose daughter "lives" with Tay-Sachs disease.

Radiolab had some music interspersed in the latest show on a rather important service that most people don't know about or have/had a need for: the Poison Control Center (the hotline still exists with live operators "standing by" 24/7, even after six decades.)

The Capitol Steps Politics Take A Holiday broadcast on the radio (I highly recommend it, especially Lirty Dies [gotta listen to understand].)

I remember them. My wife fell asleep in a gig of theirs, once.
