Harley Davidson motorcycles have a 12 volt battery. Be sure the booster vehicle has a 12 volt system. Failure to do so could result in vehicle damage.

From the 2007 Harley-Davidson owners manual.

( I still get choked up when I read this part :) )

On the other hand, the cornea of the eye seems to possess only pain-sensations, or at least the threshold of pain is so low that no other sensations can break through the sensory experience of pain when the cornea is stimulated. From the fact that pain-sense is so widely distributed in practically all parts of the body, it has generally been regarded as a "common sensation," with no specific end-organs. It is now thought, however, that cutaneous pain arises from the stimulation of the "free nerve endings."

(Good Lord... :rolleyes: )

from Psychology by Burtis Burr Breese, Professor of Psychology in the University of Cincinatti, 1917

"So, in order to be a little more specific, if I ask what part of me William Avenue is, I can say that it is the seed of my present ego structure, the beginnings of the values system that later became my dominant attitude and main viewpoint toward life. What is important to this dream is that this dominant attitude is one that squelches feeling, that is embarrassed by feeling and equates it with embarrassing emotionalism. It is a culture that mostly uses sentimentality as a substitute for real feeling."

From Inner Work: Using Dreams & Active Imagination for Personal Growth by Robert A. Johnson

"they'll do anything for revenge, anything to make themselves feel powerful and beyond humiliation again". "I'd not thought of it that way." Aderyn was silent for some moments.

Katharine Kerr, The Spirit Stone. loooooove her work.

Namaste all,

"a kyogen, its plot centers on the fulfilment of an 18 year long desire for revenge. It is one of the many plays in a collection devoted to the story of Kanekichi, based on the historical events involving the Soga brothers during the Kamakura period (1185-1333). The moneylender Ishibe Kanekichi had dunned Tanabe Bunzo for a large sum of money; the latter had been assisting his lords, the Ishii brothers, in a vendetta they were pursuing."

a book on Japanese Woodblock printing.

If to obviate this consequence, it should be resolved to extend the prohibition of the raising of armies in time of peace, the United States would then exibit the most extraordinary specticle, which the world has yet seen - that of a nation incapacitated by its constitution to prepare for defense, before it was actually invaded. As a declaration of a formal denunciation of war has of late fallen into disuse, the presence of an enemy within our territories must be waited for as the legal warrant for the government to begin its levies of men for the protection of the state. We must receive the blow before we could even prepare to turn it.

The Federalist Papers, #25 (Hamilton) 21 Dec 1787

The book under this was Machiavelli.
I am surely pleased that I did not have Locke's "Letter of Toleration" on my desk at the time.

"Our ages were nearly the same,and from our earliest years we were playfellows and friends. I cannot remember a time when I did not love Eliza; and my affection for her, as we grew up, was such, as perhaps, judging from my present forlorn and cheerless gravity, you might think me incapable of ever having felt. Hers, for me, was, I believe, fervent as the attachment of your sister to Mr. Willoughby, and it was, though from a different cause, no less fortunate."

"Pride and Prejudice" Jane Austen (reading it for the umpteenth time)

"Sense and Sensibility" rather?

The editorial stated: "The practical inutility of the national weather bureau, for certain sections of the country, at least, was never so conspicuously shown as on Friday and Saturday last when South Texas was left without any warning of the coming storm, or at least its severity." The editorial then quoted the forecasts for Texas that had been wired from the bureau's Central Office just before the storm. "With the weather bureau saying that Saturday would be 'fair; fresh, possibly brisk, northerly winds on the coast of East Texas' who would have looked for the most destructive hurricane of modern times on that coast on that date?"

Isaac's Storm, by Erik Larson (on the Galveston hurricane of 1900, deadliest ever in the US; "Isaac" was the weather-bureau man in Galveston: the Hollywood version would require that the brilliant eccentric vainly try to tell all the stodgy stupid bureaucrats of the need to prepare for disaster, and Isaac tried to spin the story that way afterwards, talking about all the warnings he'd supposedly issued, but in fact he'd been as clueless as anybody, and his brother and assistant, who had been with him all through it, never spoke to him again after he published his self-serving account)

page 16 of Charles Fillmore's "Christian Healing"

23. The truth is, then:
That God is Principle, Law, Being, Mind, Spirit, All-Good, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, unchangeable, Creator, Father, Cause, and source of all that is;
That God is individually formed in consciousness in each of us, and is known to us as "Father" when we recognize Him within us as our Creator, as our mind, as our life, as our very being;
That mind has ideas and that ideas have expression; that all manifestation in our world is the result of the ideas that we are holding in mind and are expressing;
That to bring forth or to manifest the harmony of Divine Mind, or the "kingdom of heaven," all our ideas must be one with divine ideas, and must be expressed in the divine order of Divine Mind

....In a sermon Archdeacon Farrar said: "There would be the proper teaching about hell if we calmly and deliberately erased from our English Bibles the three words, 'damnation', 'hell' and 'everlasting.' I say -- unhesitatingly I say, claiming the fullest right to speak with the authority of knowledge --that not one of those words ought to stand any longer in our English Bible, for, in our present acceptance of them, they are simply mistranslations." This corroborates the metaphysical interpretation of the Scripture, and sustains the truth that hell is a figure of speech that represents a corrective state of mind....
