Imagine there's no heaven...

Sure, the Hebrews wandering in the desert really upset Him, so He allowed for that generation to die in the desert while the new generation coming up behind were led into the land flowing with Milk and Honey. Even Moses didn't get to go into the promised land...

so you don't think that he was talking to us as well? Psalms 95:7 For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. and then there is that whole rest thing. the only rest i know about is the 7th day in Genesis. could it be we aren't even in His rest yet? i mean how could He be at rest even if Christ Himself was laboring and guiding the sheep of His pasture? no rest there, no? i am just hoping these clowns will see that God doesn't need a back up plan. that He knows all and knew exactly what we would have done even if given a perfect life, like Adam and Eve.

You'll have the opportunity to ask Him yourself..

well.. You'll be on your face eating dirt and Im pretty sure you wont be thinking anything so trivial as wondering why Jehovah God would decide to do anything as if He needs to run to you to explain Himself.

My heart so totally grieves at the lack of respect some people have for their Creator. My God!

forgive them, faith, they know not what they do. remember Lot's wife and don't look back. just keep plowing forward. the harvest is great. know what i mean?

Normally I wouldnt give a darn but I had just finished listening to a very good teaching on the crucifixion that made me cry.. and after hearing the details of what Jesus went through on the cross..it just hurt me.

when they thrust the spear through the side into the heart of our Savior blood and water poured out.. that was a literal broken heart over our sin..

i know exactly what you mean, faith. but most of them have been given a spirit of slumber and though they have eyes, they won't percieve and though have ears, they can't listen. but at least you and i can see it. and it is beautiful. so beautiful that i can't help but get the feeling that this flesh is to filthy to behold. here is to salvation, faith, salvation and resurrection by our Father, our God, thru our King and Lord, Christ Jesus. Amen and amen.

No, Psalms were not prophetic Scripture. They were describing the situation at the time. Of course we should apply them to events and situations as we experience in our daily lives.

But they were not describing the distant future (our time now).

What really irritates folks is when they are spoken of in the third person past participle. The second part that irritates folk is when one applies their "learning" against other's learning and decries that they do not know what they are talking about or what they are doing.

Doesn't make much for good discussion...

...afterall, one could equally and arrogantly decry that you know nothing, as well, and use scripture to back their claim.

Of course I know of no one who would do that to you, it would be so indignant and beneath one...

lol... Of course I will.

It's not a game of chess, but a game of poker. And God's always got the bigger hand. :D

Lucky I slip ace's in my sleeves. ;)

Hey brah! It's not cheating ;\ If you bring the "right cards" to the playing table... Your organised... Planned you know...

Helped some old lady bring home her shopping... There's a Jack in your hand... Save some kids life, taking an ace to the table... ;)

No Jokers, though. :)

I disagree.

The Holy Spirit is responsible for inspiring scripture.. He is responsible for translating and interpreting.. not us. Not one single person living on this planet can say they have ultimate knowledge of scripture enough to say if The Holy Spirit was inspiriing prophecy in any book of the bible or not. I personally can see prophecy in every book of the bible.. I can see prophecy for myself personally I can see it for the nation of Israel I can see it for the body of Christ.. Its manifold.

Actually, God's back-up plan was His forward-up plan:

"And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world." - Revelation 13:8

Christ was already crucified even before He came here. Even before Adam and Eve.

I can boldly say I cant wait to vacate this place. I can give more scriptural evidence to that fact than that we are to want to remain in this world. I cant wait to see my Jesus. I cant wait to go places that this fleshly body stops me from going. I cant wait..

But Im waiting regardless..

With the enemy's temptation. He did win the first battle. Do you want to let him win the war by declaring what God made beautiful for us a pit that you cannot wait to vacate?
Sorry what God made beautiful for us we do not see. We might see glimpses but we do not see what he created for us....

Death, disease, famine, droughts those were not created for our beautiful world.

Did you conceal and deceive? Did you play the game with your neighbor as you would have your neighbor play the game with you?

I guess what I was trying to do in this thread is that I come across many Christians who have their heads too far into the clouds. Even in my own denomination, there is a heavy emphasis in getting people "saved" and getting them into heaven that I think they miss the point of getting saved in the first place. Sure, we have an obligation to spread the gospel and tell the good news of Christ's sacrifice. But sometimes I think that as long as we get people saved, we tend to relax in our salvation.

For people who are looking for hope in the world, salvation is just the beginning. Indeed, I think salvation encompasses much more than. It's salvation in the life here and now. It's getting people to see how much God wants to transform them. There are too many people yet in broken homes, bad situations, living on the edge, living meager lives, having little hope in this world. Yeah, we can tell people that they can go to heaven, but that doesn't do much for them now.

If there was no heaven, what hope do you give to people like that? Do you believe in a God that will act on their behaf now?

Namaste FS,

Then why did G-d put you here? Surely not just to get there...

Put us all through misery here for somewhere between a minute and 120 years?

Surely there is a purpose we are here...something we are supposed to get before we get to the screen... Do you think you've picked up all those tools, received all those instructions and lessons that the rest of the time is just sitting at the bus stop?

You're right. That is an excellent point. Heaven is right here on earth, if we choose to accept what Christ said. If we keep looking for tomorrow, we fail to notice today.

A-Amen

full circle...

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

Thanx John--sounds like heaven on earth to me.
