Metaphysics of abundance

Put one's self to one side.

It's quite the trick, if you can pull it off.
The greatest trick there is, I think.

The thing is, surrender is not something to do, but more like ceasing the doing.

Great discussion!

I find it interesting that american Christians lobe the OT ten commandments up on courthouse walls and not the NT beatitudes!
It does seem to me that American Christianity is often OT-centric, but then I think we'd both agree that all our institutions might benefit from the Beatitudes postered on the walls!

If I'd watched this one first. I found the language of this one far more obviously 'self-help guru' type of stuff.

It includes the observation that every time a person says: “I am” followed by something negative, like “I am angry” – that they are using God's name in vain. Which has to be a bit if a stretch, imo.

Still, I'm not judging -- whatever works ...

I actually figure I just cant see the big picture..
OK ... but where does that leave you in terms of moral values when, if everything is all good, all of God, then everything is permissible?

I don't want to get into a 'well what about... ' argument, I'm just trying to get my head around the idea that if everything's as it should be, no-one has the right to say 'no' if I think something is permissible to me because I see it as my own good?

Conversely, when people suffer at the hands of others, that too is for their greater good?

Oh I love the nuclear option!

You think for a minute, I a out raping, pillaging, plundering and murdering? Ya think I run a child sex slave ring with all my immoral everything is permissible ways?

ROFLMAO

That must be the natural outcome of positive thinking eh?
Conversely, when people suffer at the hands of others, that too is for their greater good?
I find it amazing that you can watch these two videos and come to that conclusion.

Bit of an exaggeration ...

No, I think you're doing a Trump, attacking me and blustering because you haven't got an answer.

Lol, no religion, especially Christianity and its leadership hold any corner on morals, the power they wield over the people corrupts as much as any.

But you are aware.

You're still avoiding the question.
Yes, I avoid the questions that you already know the answer to.
Conversely, when people suffer at the hands of others, that too is for their greater good?
Is this in regard to pedophile priests that have been protected by the confessional and the hierarchy all the way to Rome for generations?

I'm asking for clarification, and you're still side-stepping ...

Ha, nice move! Yes, that too, if you want ...

I didn't want to enter this discussion, but, in fairness, the following comments were all in the first five minutes of this week's talk, and they coincide exactly with my own belief:

" ... when we are able to remain Christ centred in the midst of crisis.

When we talk about prosperity, we're not just talking about material things …

How many times have you felt materially prosperous, but emotionally and spiritually poor? There are other times when I have felt materially and financially broke, but a rich sense of God being in my life ..."

It has me interested enough to want to watch the rest of it later; no time right now.

spiritual prosperity ... in turn leads to material prosperity ...
In fact most spiritual guides and scriptures keep saying that material prosperity is the single biggest obstacle in the way of spiritual peace? Unless a person is like Solomon.

Yes RJ,.when I listen to a speaker, any speaker, I feel no need to take every jot and tittle to heart. I take what feeds me, what resonates, and as I said, anything we (the congregation) disagrees with or needs more clarification on we can ask directly.

Butch teaches, everything just is,.not.a fualim of good.and bad. I believe it is all G!d and all good...this mortal just.doesn't have the intelligence to see.the whole picture.

But I do know that dozens of times in my life things that I thought started out negative turned positive on their own. I feel no need to know it all, I'll just.go with the flow in my own way.

I can't wait to see the good that will come from having a misogynist, racist, anti lgtbq habitual liar for a president...but feel the revolution coming is beyond my comprehension.

"If I had a choice between being materially poor and spiritually rich, I would choose the latter everytime.

If you're committed to a life of prayer, and all that that life entails, you change your life and you change it significantly … you are praying all the time, Jesus said: Pray unceasingly

Before I get up here, I say, Father into thy hands I commit my spirit mind and body, use me, guide me mould me use me as you would … lead me in your way spirit ..."

It's impossible to have issue with this. I feel he is talking from the heart and from being close to God. I do like him.

Then here is where it may be thought of as starting to turn a bit dodgy, towards prosperity preaching:

"It is my experience that when you are feeling spiritually rich, you do not stay materially poor for very long … because your consciousness is tapped into the source, this is because your mind is open to the rich abundance of prosperous ideas flowing into you from your indwelling spirit. Those abundant ideas are constantly flowing into us, but if we're feeling materially poor, we can't contemplate what to do with them … whereas if a person is spiritually poor but materially rich, they are constantly in fear of losing it …

HOWEVER: If other people listening to him are able somehow to use what he's saying as 'prosperity preaching' to deny the afterlife/soul as the centre of Christ's teaching, and somehow to make it all about this world -- and even as completely atheist -- I just really do not think the speaker intends what he's saying to be used or interpreted in that way?

I think I understand and hear what he is saying ...

Seek first the Kingdom of God, and all these things shall be given unto you.
It's the first commandment.
God first.
