Why isn't there one thread for introductions like all other forums I've been to, I feel foolish starting a new thread when I have very little to say.

I mostly want then posts so I can answer the welcome from NiceCupOfTea I got as a "Visitor Messages". I feel truly awful over not being able to respond.

I define myself as a non believer, perhaps an agnostic even. I have a problem with labels but I guess they are preferable over describing my whole life and the effect different events has had on my perception and opinions. I do, however, have a great respect for faith and particularity faithful who admit to not knowing anything. I have little respect for people who have little respect for people, and have been drawn into pointless discussions surrounding faith from both believers and non-believers which, unfortunately, has left me some what bitter and prejudice towards atheists.

I hail from the Nordic regions so when my poor English make your finger itch do feel free to ask or even correct me, mistakes are to be expected.

I want to finish off by stating my admiration for the people on this site, the amount of knowlage and wisdom is inspiring. I have been stalking these threads for a couple of days now trying to absorb what I can. The reason I created an acount was to ask a question on the Tao section, but my query was eaten by the internet and the frustration have yet to leave me.

Hello Cup Of Tea, and welcome. It's okay to start a new thread to introduce yourself, I'm sure you deserve a thread of your very own. :)
 
namaste and welcome you ordinary cup of tea... well I mean as compared to our current nice cup. Who knows after we get to know you we may think of you as a nicer cup...

Anywho...nonbeliever almost agnostic....me thinks you are agnostic, as in you represent respect for those that don't know...agnositics don't know...atheists say there is no G!d.

Of course now I am a believer that doesn't know but definetly says there is no anthropomorphic larger than life old white dude which many refer to as G!d, nor any little critter called the devil....I absolutely believe they don't exist, but I don't know and am a Christian.

And I think the reason we don't just have an introductory thread is we like individual introductions, to start some banter and contemplation, to know you..and not simply have you lost in a HEY, OVER HERE IT IS ME, yeah 32 post down....
 
Ordinary cup of tea has a nice ring to it. I could take my place as a contrast.
Thank you all for your welcomes. I must say that I will probably not be very active, not writing anyway. I'm more of a listener. I do see myself as rather young and inexperienced and would rather learn before I declare this or that. There will hopefully be opportunities for me to ask questions though.

And yes, I AM an agnostic. Technically. Bot I wouldn't define myself as such, or introduce myself as one in any other context. I prefer that people experience the different nuances of the tea that is me before labelling me. And in a perfect world, they would label me as A Cup Of Tea, or whatever nickname or alias people like to call me.

I just felt like rambling a bit.

And also, NiceCupOfTea, I do like your name very much as well. I feel, at once, both unoriginal and a feeling of camaraderie.

I had a thought. It is hard for me to guess the age and sex of most of the people here, and I wonder if it is equally hard to guess my measurements. So as an experiment, I will now declare that I will not reveal these most secret nuggets of information. And there might come a time when some have gotten to know me better and they can come here and guess! There will be prizes to be had, be sure of that!

Could this be more than an ordinary cup of tea? Its there perhaps a note similar to the "ring" attributed to a fine China rather than a stoneware mug?

A young tea with the faintest hint of astringency and, similar to a Pu Erh, may well improve with age.
As to labels, Mayhap Vintage of 2011???

Hey, cool, it's more than my post count! I wonder if they visit because they agree or disagree with what I have said.
I'm very interested in other peoples view of me, together with my own perception of me I believe I can gain a greater understanding of me.
So if anyone ever wants to tell me something about me this page is always open for them. Compliments are of course always welcome, I have a big ego that needs to be feed regularly. But I think criticism is equally appreciated, if not more so.
 
I'll be away in the woods for a night or two with my girlfriend, I don't get out into the wild much so it will be an experience. Wish us luck!
 
Have a great time ACOT, be sure to do some stargazing if you get a clear night. That's my favorite part of sleeping in the woods; contemplating the stars all night long. If I wake up in the middle of the night (usually several times when I'm camping) I always check out the stars, look at how the sky has changed, imagine I'm an ancient Mayan trying to learn about the heavens, etc. The harvest moon is just starting to wane now, it should be a spectacular sight as it creeps up from the horizon...

Another fun tip is a night hike if you've never tried it. Assuming you'll be near a trail, just head out under the moonlight for a hike. It's amazing how your other senses compensate for your limited vision (although you should still be able to see well enough to follow the trail with the nearly-full moon). Hiking a trail at night is a completely different experience than a day hike, and Polaris (the north star) will be there to guide your way, as it has throughout history for many voyagers :)

I hope you do have a good camping trip or whatever it is as well....observation of nature is an incredible experience...a great time to just be.

There is many a religion thought that is based on what is seen in nature.

and btw, I've enjoyed thoroughly your presence here. We've had a little new blood lately and that is good.
 
Thanks all, got back now and we had a great time. It wasn't very far, we took for a half hour and then hiked for about 10 km to a permanent shelter. We did a little stargazing, but we had a full moon so the stars wasn't as clear as they could've been.

IG, we never tried night hiking, we stayed at the shelter for both nights and just chilled. But I have gone out running at night several times before and it's quite an experience.

Agnosticism does no such thing. Agnosticism simply admits we don't know what we don't know, and that we may in fact never know. Usually applied to deities but can also be applied to other concepts such as pink unicorns. Agnosticism is a framework for thinking, not an effort to cut one from God.
