Is Christianity anti-women?

Gen.1

  1. [27] So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

There is no favoritism in who can serve the Lord

The original texts in hebrew read the CREATOR(S) created HUMAN in THE CREATOR(S) own image: Male and Female he created them. Two who are also ONE. The translations were made male even though the original texts were not totally male. The original texts creator is singular and also plural. Around 400 BC the priesthood became male dominated and intentionally wrote out the wholeness of the creator making it male. Anyone who worshipped or mentioned the female or goddess was killed and that lasted 100 years. The jews called her Ashera and the two staffs given to moses were called ashera poles. I do think that religions are not antiwoman but they dont want to acknowledge that women are equal to them which is why there is a denial of the female counterpart to god. Its sad that our society sees women as equal to men but religions are slow to acknowledge this. There is differences between men and women which is apparent but that is how it is suppose to be became they are the same but opposite. When you take the female out of the equation or try to make her too masculine when you give her equal rights then there is too much masculine energy which leads to wars ect.

whoops it wasnt originally he created them it was THEY created them

Is not the story of the woman at the well one of the sections of scripture that has been deemed an add, not found in any of the oldest texts?

It is the "woman taken in adultery" which occurs late (not until the 5th century, and then sometimes spliced into Luke, instead of into John). The "woman at the well" is old material.

Small point here: the mob wasn't following the OT law. The OT law reads:
Lev 20:10
10 If a man commits adultery with a married woman—if he commits adultery with his neighbor's wife—both the adulterer and the adulteress must be put to death.
The passage in John 8 reads:
2 At dawn He went to the temple complex again, and all the people were coming to Him. He sat down and began to teach them. 3 Then the scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman caught in adultery, making her stand in the center. 4 "Teacher," they said to Him, "this woman was caught in the act of committing adultery. 5 In the law Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do You say?" 6 They asked this to trap Him, in order that they might have evidence to accuse Him.
Jesus stooped down and started writing on the ground with His finger. 7 When they persisted in questioning Him, He stood up and said to them, "The one without sin among you should be the first to throw a stone at her."
8 Then He stooped down again and continued writing on the ground. 9 When they heard this, they left one by one, starting with the older men. Only He was left, with the woman in the center. 10 When Jesus stood up, He said to her, " Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?"
11 "No one, Lord," she answered.
"Neither do I condemn you," said Jesus. "Go, and from now on do not sin any more."
You would think that the scribes would know the law--that both the man and the woman were to be put to death--not just the woman. I'm wondering if the writing Jesus was doing on the ground was the law from Leviticus? The scripture from John said they did this to trap him.

No offense but the misintepretation of that scripture is not only a heavenly crime but an earthly one as well. Death in religious studies refers to the knowledge as to why you shouldnt do something and repentance. Thou shalt not kill!!!The death of the sin not the sinner...what kind of GOD do u worship?

One more point didnt jesus say He who is without sin cast the first stone. No one could do that and he wouldnt do that.

Exactly! Not only did the crowd not get it right, they couldn't even get the literal rendition right!

Finally someone with the intellect to understand this! Its so refreshing to talk to someone who sees the correct reasoning :)

John Crossan has a recent post on a fresco depicting Paul between Thecla and Theoclia. Crossan dates it to around the 400s. The right hand of Theoclia is raised in a "teaching gesture" . . . and it is gouged out and burned off. Her eyes are erased too. Click here to see more:

John Dominic Crossan: The Search for the Historical Paul: What Paul Thought About Women

There is a denial I believe of the nag hammadi gospels because they state that JESUS placed Mary Mag above all of the apostles and thought her things that he didnt teach them. I believe the denial is due to the nature of the male to dominate women. Men are suppose to protect women and support them. When Paul was taking issue with mary saying she had no right to teach a man another apostle stepped in and said if the savior made her worthy then he had no right to deny her teaching them what jesus tought her. You still see that same attitude within religions.

On the one hand, there are plenty of women vicars of Dibley around nowadays, yet sections of the male clergy are strongly opposed to women vicars, so I thought I'd open this thread for discussion.
Are the christian male clergy being old fuddy-duddies or what?
What do other faiths think of women, and do they have women priests?

Question is what religions are antiwomen? What religions deny the female counterpart?

No but theres an enemy in the midst called false science and psychology that says you can choose to be one with whoever you wish. *It simply doesnt work that way which is why the bodies are not naturally designed to go that way.

You have to treat a woman as a woman and man as a man interactions should be appropriate. Why do you think the bible says man man man or god god god but not much mention of the counterpart? Because you need to be like god as a man; Sex change operations reallly dont change sex your either one half or the other no matter what KIND you are. These are the facts and can you see they cannot be changed. Even the whole physical cosmos works that way. Women can be scientists and doctors ect but its up to the man to listen when she has the right answers.

Half the universe if female half is male and the imbalance well what do you think is causing it?
Almost nothing in the universe is either male or female. Out of arrogance you invent nonsense to fill up your ignorance, which would be of no concern to me if you did not then try aggressively to push your ignorance on others.

It is real easy. Neither Zoratianism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam, nor Bahai have a female or feminine half of the G!dhead. Now, one can make up myths to the contratrary or quote long-lost traditions. However neither can change this pretty widely established truth.

I am not aggressive. I am simply telling the truth. Half of everything that exists is female to include elements.

Donnann, I am sorry but that is just poppycock. Say something like "I believe elements to be male or female" or "mystically all elements are half male and half female". What your statement (according to the common riles on English says) is that "it is a fact that half the elements listed in the Periodic Table are male and half female"--this is clearly incorrect.

It isnt incorrect. They have even determined plants to be male or female which is what the symbols for male and female are for.

Donnann, plants are not elements. Elements are things like Carbon or Oxygen or Uranioum. No one has ever dermined the sex of an atom or a galaxy. More than that the concept of "Male" and "Female" just do not apply.
