Your mistake is you believe understanding comes from learning, you think knowledge brings understanding, the more information you gather the better you understand something. It is simply not the case at all, everything you fill your mind with, you are that much further from truth.
You try to comprehend the nature of existence through Jesus' experience, you learn everything you can about the theories about this man, you look in other faith systems to confirm what is said about Jesus, you are basically blinded by your own concepts, you do not even question where these have come from, why any of this is valid at all. Your whole approach is basically wrong, you are trying to confirm your own ideas, you are not trying to experience for yourself and only experience is true confirmation.
Jesus says repeatedly to look within, that God is within us, Hinduism has many techniques for going within, Buddhism too tries to look directly within for truth, all the great ones say this. You are content to learn what they have said about it, you have even mocked "navel gazing" because for you there is nothing in actually looking for truth, you think you already have truth but all you have are words about.
Zen is the only way to truth, the mystics can use any scripture to justify bringing about a state of Zen, they will use any device to bring you to this state. It is simply to see that all things are here and now, nothing can be outside this moment, this is the ultimate conclusion of Buddha's Middle Way, of Lao Tzu's pleas to not fight the Tao - the natural flow of life, what you would call doing God's will. Living in the now, there is nothing comparable, every ounce of your being is invested into every instance, and yet continuously existence goes on filling you back up. Every religious practice is exactly towards this moment, their whole teaching is to live each moment as completely as possible, the only true sacrifice is your personal will, your own identity, because it holds you back - you want to be consistent with the past, you want to head towards something in the future, you are not alive now, you keep missing life. The Bible says God is the God of life, not death, but the only moment where life exists is here and now, it cannot be there and then, the past is dead, the future is not yet born, there is no life in either.
All opposites come together in this moment, constantly they are at play in this moment, to make any conception about it, Scientists say it takes 0.3 seconds for the brain to respond to anything - you are automatically out of the moment just thinking about anything. The mind is the veil, Zen is the apocalypse, it is to see directly without the veil, and without the veil you see you are already in heaven.
