Something I read earlier today that I don't know where to put

Something that might remind several of us of Aussie_Thoughts:

I know, it's a day or two late, yet.....

Today is Pearl Harbor Rememberance Day, the "day that will live in infamy" when the Japanese Air Force bombed a US military base and Japanese-Americans were rounded up and sent to "camps" (George Takai and his family went to one.) Oh, and the US officially entered WWII.

I won't "say" 'Happy' here due to everything surrounding today, but it's apolitical IMHO because everybody lost on this day...

Just the fact that they compare the number of marriages with the number of divorces in a given year and called that a divorce rate has always been problematic.

After all, the number of people who get married in a given year do not represent ALL the married people.
The people who file from divorce are not solely drawn from the people who got married that year.
If 1000 couples got married this year, and 500 people got divorced... that doesn't mean half of all married people got divorced.
That just means that new marriages are doubling the number of divorces.
Those who file from divorce any given year could be people who got married last year, two years ago, 5 years ago, 10 years ago, 12 years ago, 15 years ago, 20 years ago, 25 years ago, etc etc.
