Marijuana

I used to smoke loads of weed.

To much is bad for your mental health, smoking anything is bad for your physical health, and it makes you very lazy.

But in moderation its OK, in fact i miss it sometimes

Whats wrong with lazy? You a lazy-ist? We like to be called Comfortably pacing...

speaking from personal experience, I'm talking so lazy that you cant even be bothered to have dump. maybe that was just me though ;)

I recently watched a wonderful documentary about marijuana called "Grass". Anybody interested in the history of marijuana in the United States should definitely see it. All those with prejudices against weed really would be surprised.

In the film, it actually talks about a scientific exploration of marijuana that was done over a six year period, which reported virtually no ill-effects from smoking it or ingesting it in any other way, and said that it didn't eventually lead people to kill people, go insane, act drastically different from their normal personality, die, get very ill or have a desire for harder drugs.

I have smoked plenty of grass in my life, and I never had any ill effects from it. It's just a nice way to relax, chill out, have a good time. I have driven a car multiple times under the influence of marijuana, and haven't experienced anything like what they say happens. It just makes you feel happy and a little sleepy, or happy and silly, or happy and philosophical.

I haven't tried any other drugs besides weed, even though I had the opportunity, and though I've been smoking recreationally for years, I haven't experienced a tolerance to marijuana. My friends still like me, I did alright in school, and my family didn't disown me. I have a loving partner, and no problems sexually. I have put down marijuana for a year, picked it up, put it down, and never felt a craving (like I do for nicotine cigarettes). I have refused marijuana (something I could DEFINITELY never do with nicotine cigarettes).

Most of my friends and my partner have smoked it before and we're all normal people. It's just a stigma, and if you found out for yourself, you'd see there's no real weight to a lot of the rumours. Of course, I would never advocate doing that, as it is breaking the law in many countries. (...stupid law.)

ar.

The former makes more sense to me than the latter, because all weeds have no real purpose, they just get in the way when we try to grow plants, so we must pick them and get rid of them; they realy have no use to us at all.

Is dandelion a weed?
Is burrdock a weed?
Is thistle a weed?
Is barberry a weed?
Is kudzu a weed?

Most people would say "yes", because they AS INDIVIDUALS have no "use" for these plants, but each of these plants can be put to some "useful" purpose.

A weed is merely a plant that happens to be in a place that is inconvenient for me.

It's this affect on dopamine productions that causes drug addiction.

It's not just dopamine. It's also cannabinoids, opioids, and other classes of neurotransmitters that cause drug addiction.

Basicaly, humans "evolved" with a special section of our brain designed specificaly to detect and bond with THC and other chemicals found in marijuana

The same claim could be made for the substances that work on the dopaminergic pathways, thus undercutting and destroying your claims for a unique status for Mary Jane.

The only bad thing I can think about marijuana is that it causes impared memory, but that might be the result of thousands of years worth of genetic mutation to our DNA, making our brains not up to par with the perfect brain God gave Adam.

Cute, you manage to hypocritically hand-wave away any problems associated with marijuana use--how convenient for you.

I was with a guy for 10 years that smoked weed almost daily... and I am not exaggerating that I had witnessed him grow more stupid and forgetful as the years went by. His dealer just died at the age of 45 from emphysema... They wont say if it was from the pot.. but you can only think it probably did.

I dont miss it a bit, and I certainy dont miss the "crap" that goes along with it. The bad company, the fear of being caught, the paranoia, the so called friends, the whole thing just isnt my thing anymore and hasnt been for a long long time. I know, I know, theres nothing worse than an expot smoker to preach, so I wont. LOL. it is only my experience......... and never again. lol

Ohhh hud yer wheesht women....and pass that doobie!! ;):p

The greatest health risk posed by marijuana is entirely human in origin. It has been deemed a "sin" by the priests of government worship. However, that particular cult has a lot of temporal power...

with many multiples the tars and carcinogens of those found in cigarettes, there are obvious health issues, lung cancer and emphysemia among them. Now these could be avoided by vaporizers or ingesting, but not many consume that way.

Short term loss of memory, weaker cognitive function which appear during usage appear to extend beyond usage with continual usage.

Killing, fighting, insanity...this is all hyperbole a mistake of the overzealous folks who no little about the effects and negatively affected their anti drug campaigns by such exagerations.

Leading to harder drugs occurs by proximity...as a smoker you are breaking laws, you are purchasing from folks who are breaking laws, you are hanging out with folks that are breaking laws, you end up hanging out with folks who do cocaine, heroine, abuse prescriptions etc. and by association the liklihood of you trying the above increases...quite simple.

Lastly, when you have a problem with any issue...tis always harder to see from the inside.

I found a small amount of weed yesterday luckily I still had a pipe lying around so I was able to smoke it last night

Not bad but I am glad I dont smoke habitually any more, still occasionally its ok

Genesis 1:29-30 (New International Version)

29 Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food." And it was so.

I enjoy smoking pot before bedtime and on weekends, because it relaxes me and helps with pain. I had quit smoking for many years, but when I was on chemotherapy and could not eat, my children (adults) convinced me to smoke. It really helped to dull the pain and give me enough appetite to eat more.

It's a great drug when used in the proper situations, which does NOT include driving, working or operating dangerous equipment (though I don't have trouble mowing the grass when I'm stoned, lol.)

This is one situation, where I agree about using THC. While someone is sick...

Otherwise, it is like a perscription drug...only to be used for the time needed. Anything else is abuse, and illegal.

Welcom to Interfaith. :D

Except she said its the pain she used it for. I agree with using it while someone is sick too-- even if the person using it is not the one who's sick.

Some of us like coffee, I am not a thrill junkie. Like crystal meth and gambling addicts. If you`re gonna smoke, try to avoid smoking paper.

There will be less violence  in the world if more violent people smoked marijuana  ->:p and listened to Bob Marley, but don`t ask all of them to take your finals  while they`re high.

Anyways to my main point. At one time or another, I believe we have had ancestors who regularly grew hemp in their backyards. At one point, like the stone age, bronze age etc.. I think our cultures have gone through a "hemp age" that includes weaving mainly, and smoking on the side as incense as well. Obviously we made ropes with hemp, and in my case it is currently heavily regulated but those ropes are found as core symbolic items in my country`s root religion (Shinto).

Thus in a way, I think it is my religious heritage and right to grow hemp on my own property, although the majority may disagree. And as one coming from a family of tea growers, if it wasn`t illegal, I`d be making ceramics, growing and blending my own marijuana like tea, and quite enjoy it with many friends.

So I`m kind of considering starting a group and declaring it a religious group, as religious groups are extremely tolerated where I live so that I may freely grow and blend my own marijuana. But when and if that would happen I don`t have any plans anytime soon.

Anyways I`m looking at the religious angle without getting too serious about the religious part, as all this restriction is ridiculous. There are many other legal things that are more harmful like cigarettes and cheap liquor, that are practically poisonous.

Tisn't illegal everywhere now is it?? The war on drugs is wasted on marijuana... which wasn't even a problem until it was made illegal. Prohibition never works and before Obama is out of office I think it'll be decriminalized federally in the US. (and taxed like hell to help balance the budget)
