Blessings

12/27/04

Vine tomatoes on the table, dirty dishes
In the sink, a cup of coffee, simple music—
These typical blessings dot my apartment.
Light shines out from under the shade and
Glows, lamp-warm, through vertical lines
Of blinds slanting a tight pattern across glass.

I exhale through one open nostril. Coffee on the table
Warms the mug you gave me. Two guitars and
An abandoned computer monitor, Christmas paper
And recently abandoned cat toys; two plants, a picture of us.
Afternoon light oozes through the window, makes warm
Puddles on the floor, and I turn the lamp up brighter.

...

Upon the unobtrusive night in the silence, I wander.
Upon the myriad of thoughts of none, my mind is blank, I ponder.
Upon locating an isolated thought, baffled yet, I infer...
upon inspection it is found to be true, I mature.
upon taking from notion to function, I Endure...
Upon sharing and showing with all I encounter, we concur.

Oh and here is a more child like upbeat quick one lol

If you could be anyone or anything what would you be?
The President, fame, fortune splendor prestige?
Inventor, explorer, intelligence, a beauty or glory?
Traveler, painter or doctor? A face on TV?

If you could be anything or anyone what would you be?
What would you be? Then what is stopping you, you see?
You are all that you perceive, you can be what you wish to be you are free...
If you could be anything what would you be?

If I could be anything or anyone I wished to be,
Then I would be like my dog Taz I believe
He has faith in me, by my side he never fails to be
Love and respect and stood fast with loyalty.
He has suprised and amazed since he was but a puppy.
Happy as ever and finds pleasure in simplicity
As strong as an ox with astonishing abilities
Yet this does not show in him, only modesty.
Following me blindly with trust faithfully
This dog this pet, this friend, this member of the family
He is everything I could only wish to be.
A creature of harmony that wishes to live peacefully
Friendly to all he meets and wagging his tail he greets them cheerfully.
My Staffy, yes I am sure is what I would be if I could be anything I wished to be.
My loyal, modest, happy, strong, helpful friendly, peaceful doggy.

For Fifty years and two
I've hung the sky with stars.
Now I leap through.
- what shattering.

The Works of art..

A masterpiece that the world can see..
Serenity, peace, beauty bliss oh how varied we perceive..
For it comes, it goes, it changes and grows...
Such mastery, such majesty, such supremacy that it shows.....

The detail of every atom, the detail of every soul.
Particular, accurate, spectacular immaculate how his talents flow.
Amazing how we are, the words unfathomable to descibe how oh so small.
Such ability, such finesse, such ingenuity, such prowess and so much more.

Every single day, every passing night a new masterpiece is begotten.
Can it really be that his accomplishments go forgotten
From the nethermost valley, to the up most hill, to the smallest creek,
From the hidden jungle, to the most isolated desert to the highest ever peak,
From the deepest ocean, from the golden beach from where you shall seek...

From the earth to the heavens and to infinity and beyond
What could possibly drive the artist to yield and perform?
From his love and because of his will he continues to draw
For the Lord YHWH made them all.

Two Perspectives

II. When I gaze into your eyes

I forget

( that

( there are
dirty dishes
in the sink
my arm's just falling asleep
sometimes I
say the wrong thing )

we've only just met

and have barely unwound

each other's

figurative balls of string. )

edit: Gah it won't preserve my spaces.

At Sea

by Wendy Mnookin

At the end of the jetty.

Where the boats come in. Where the boats go out. At the pile of rocks
that swallows the sun at the end of the day.

At the turn of the trail. At the last dune.

In front of the hot-dog stand. At the door to the pub. By the shanty,
the shipbuilder's yard, the discarded yellow boots, the smashed
clam shells.

You thought I'd give in to despair.
But today is today, everywhere I look. And I look everywhere
