Aapaka hindee kaisa hai?
Ok, that's what I asked, how's your Hindi? I'm not conversational in Hindi myself, just a rudimentary understanding. Takes me a while to translate though, reversing tenses and such. So when I watch a Hindi movie I'm generally 10 minutes behind in the plot, but the more recent releases seem to have quite a bit more English peppered in and that helps quite a bit.I don't speak Hindi...but do enjoy some of the movies (especially the ones without the stars dancing and peaking out behind trees)... we had an Indian theater nearby (closed now) loved the long movies and intermissions. Had you seen this one?
No, I haven't seen it. I sort of lived through the backlash on Indians after 911 though. I had a side business at the time linking up men here who were interested in meeting and marrying Indian women from the Fiji Islands. After 911, suddenly everyone with dark skin who spoke with an accent was a terrorist. Business tanked overnight with the only remaining inquires coming from federal authorities.Did you ever see "New York" a movie about the blow back on people of tan color after 9/11...powerful movie.
I just got around to watching "Taare Zameen Par" this afternoon. Fantastic piece of work. I really enjoyed it. Thanks.ooo...I'll watch that! I watched without subtitles it was so interesting...it appeared the director was soooo careful to make the acting and context so plain you didn't actually need to know the words...you felt them all instantly.
