What if....

Don't know. :p

Agreed, Seattlegal :)

What if the religion you follow is wrong?

What if?

Do you mean the politics and personal gain in religion bouncing and passing fear everywhere they go? Going thru life telling everyone else they are wrong and the "you go to hell" statements? ...and "we have the only right religion"?

I stopped following religion as I do not see any difference in peoples character and attitude from one religion to the next and/or lack of religion.
I would be more concerned if I were practicing perfection of any said religion or trying to find the only right religion- cause it aint there. I joined the 15% of Americans who claim no religion. Getting there took a little time but it is great cause life was going by too fast looking at all the dogmatic theories, hierarchy, fussing and you know...(ack!)

How could one person or persons religion be right about everything? Wouldn't that make them God?
Good to see you again, 17th Angel:).

Do you hold any beliefs about God at all, Bandit? Do you believe in a universal belief or truth that maybe we don't know until all things are revealed? Or not?

Oh yes. I am seeing that every religion has a piece of it but not one religion has it all. Religion takes everything to extremes and people did that creating dead ends. There is error in everything and everyone just because that is the human condition. Don't you think, Dondi?
I have a hard time viewing God with error though. Second thoughts maybe but not error. I am not sure what you mean by Universal Truth unless you just mean the common denominators.

If you mean we will know all things revealed before we die, I don't see how that is possible. Core beliefs in the Christ DBR have never changed as that is my hope, though I see many purposes that you can find in other religions lacking in the mainstreams.
One thing I have not experienced at all is, that all religions go to the same place or all paths lead to God. What the native American Indians have, some of that leads to God and some of it into other places.
What I see is they all go to a unique different place(s). One path leads/leans to God, one leads/leans to self, some lead/lean to downward spirals, some paths lead to nature and the Creation, others lead to selfishness and greed, other paths lead to helping others, one path leads to peace and another leads to death and destruction, some to love and some to hate. For example, you can love yourself and try to love others but not love God. Or you can love God but not really love God because you do not love others.

and that is all I know for now.
How about you?

Glad to see you back & sharing your beliefs Bandit. Before you left a while back I had always wanted to hear you share more of your beliefs, (I didn't think you had done that enough;)) & I see you doing that now. Would be interested in hearing more of your views. earl

Namaste Bandit,

The G!d I believe in is love and forgiveness. Not loves and forgives but IS love and forgiveness.

I choose to follow the Christian Paradigm and Christ and use the bible, and explore other faiths, traditions and scriptures.

I see all religions leading to G!d because I see all lives leading to G!d. I don't see the possibility that G!d would only give us one chance (life) to learn and grow all that is needed and if we failed send us to hell...it makes no sense to me.

So whatever our path, whatever we question, wherever we wander, there are lessons we are learning...leading us ever closer to source.

I feel the same about you. I got tired of the train wreck and have been much happier away from religion. I keep my deeper beliefs with explanations to myself and have become very agnostic and nauseated with all institutionalized religion. I can see not much has changed but then I did not expect it to.
Let's see, I have a bit of pantheism, Christian druidry, Christian Science, Celtic, a pinch of Islam, a pinch of Judaism, a lot of native american Indian with some Hindu, a tiny bit of Tao, a little New Age and some other stuff that may not be good for me but wont kill me. I also feel the gnostics and mystics have some things that make sense with a tad bit of Apostolic (but not in the religion Apostolic).

After much pondering, I still believe the Christ (second Adam) is the same man as the first Adam, made again (reincarnated as some call it) to follow through and succeed with the commandments that as the first Adam failed and then exalted into the godhead thus there is a God who can see through the eyes of a righteous obedient man who also knows what it is to be limited and make mistakes- a perfect union of infinite meeting finite. This union is reconciliing, making reconciliation and has reconciled all that is wrong. This is the beginning and the end, the first and last, the alpha and omega and there will not be another just like that with this particular purpose. This is of course my own personal belief and will cherish to death do us part. It has also been refreshing to know that others around the globe understand/believe a rare thing could be true before I ever say it. Yet it is important that certain things remain a mystery and not turned into dogma.

I reject most all the Christian/Islam/Jewish mainstream explanations of the Christ and Calvary and am quite content with that, though feel the blood was necessary/required and it tends to pick up again in some other religions. I think this is where some of the Bahai comes in.
I could write pages but am not real interested in doing details here. The Parsha was the great with the girl from Hawaii. I will never forget Poh.

I always felt it a little odd how the wisemen made it into the NT with no second witness among other scriptures with no second witness that are extremely too debated to be original yet that story picks up in another writing. You can put several other passages into that. Also learned that some of the original Buddhists did believe in God and that religion is different from mainstream today. That was a relief for me.

And yes, there are identical/other writings of the Christ in other world views that cannot be denied. I feel all the sacred writings from the Vedas to the most recent findings have some validation and have also been tampered with to a small degree for political agendas, called whatever they call it.

...and have become very tuned to nature, the Creation and the the elements while somehow God must be literally attached to every atom making all the things we cannot explain work and this is another way the Great Spirit has revealed itself. It is real awesome.
Take care, Earl.

The afterlife is not a big deal for me. Whatever is going to be will be. I don't know how many lives or any of that. I suppose there is a hell but not the Christian/Muslim concept of you go to hell to be tortured unless you believe what I say.

Religions never led me to God. People made those religions. I led myself to God through Christ to explore the vastness of an infinite wisdom that I can never understand in this life. God led me Himself, not a religion. If religions lead others there, then well for them.

The G!d I believe in is love and forgiveness. Not loves and forgives but IS love and forgiveness.

I see both of those things and have found both to be true. Good to see you Wil:)

I still go back and read those discussions. I never felt ready to participate, but lurking in the Parsha was great! The temple discussions with the body are still contemplated..

If this is just another drive by so be it, but your input in discussion is appreciated.

The Tabernacle is the most interesting and intriguing of all ancient writings for me. The outline of a man, though a building as a place for God to dwell. Temporal for it's time yet with plans fore future developments clear up to the Christ.
It was neat how the cloud filled the place and everyone could see it up to Solomons day.
That is where Zach learned of his son that would be given.
It will trickle down through all generations and remain as mysterious as the day the instructions were given to build it, carry it and make it the center of the camp. Moses accounted for everything even when accused. What went on their daily is astounding. People would not know how to do it today. Pauls writings are also mysterious concerning the Tabernacle. Though his interpretations are very basic I can see where he was also intrigued by what went on around the Temple.

The OT is where the meat is. The Parsha was great. It broke down the walls and divisions of denominations and the bickering stopped. It also brought to attention the ancient wisdom that Poh so clearly always pointed out.:)

Mishkan Ministries still has the best traveling Tabernacle.
See ya later.

It's only me freaking good friend bandit!!! May of noticed I have gone from a being of intelligent reason to a being of random lunacy.... I personally blame Jefferson Airplane... But, we get to a time where we can't point fingers and have to start looking at our self to seek the faults.... Erm... ANYWAY! How are you brother? Awesome to see you, quite! I'm sure! Totally see where you be coming from with your post.... So basicalllllly.... You see no religion has all the answers, because if it were, the one who started it would have to be god? That isn't possible though? Like surley, god has his religion? Or do you believe along the lines that he doesn't and just wants to see a world of good and of kindness? And our asigned task is to seek this out, just be nice and loving and enjoy this life?

Ecclesiastes 9:7 Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for it is now that God favors what you do. 8 Always be clothed in white, and always anoint your head with oil. 9 Enjoy life with your wife, whom you love, all the days of this meaningless life that God has given you under the sun--all your meaningless days. For this is your lot in life and in your toilsome labor under the sun. 10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the grave, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.
