Do you call yourself a Christian?

Not anymore. I find the term is too narrowly defined and carries too much baggage to use it as descriptive of my view. I don't have any problem with others that do, but *I* don't feel honest when I use it.

What Movies Have You Seen Recently?

I haven't seen anything in a theater for quite a while, but I do rent a fair amount through Netflix. We watche MI3 the other day. It was pretty good. We watched "Cars" a couple nights ago. I thought it was awesome, but I'm a sucker for Pixar.

What's new with me? Hmmm ... I recently went back to work full time. My husband is looking for a new job. I'm studying neoplatonism and gnosticism. I had my hair highlighted. :D I'm not sure, but I think I've discovered I have an allergy to wheat. :(

    Get together-ism

"The kind of spirituality that fosters enchantment is not the variety that feeds on creeds alone. It is the kind that discovers holiness around every corner. Some forms of spirituality aim infinitely high and we see them reflected in towering buildings and church steeples. But there is a...

    If the Buddha discovered....

I could be wrong, but it seems to depend on whether you are defining karma from a Vedanta, Buddhist or Neopagan position. Heh. Very true. Although believing in it doesn't necessarily make it true, either. :D I actually have no "problem" with karma from the Buddhist perspective. Actions do...

    If the Buddha discovered....

I like that. Thanks. It actually makes my issue with karma moot. I've never thought of it that way before, even though I've held to the idea of 'time is illusion' for a very long time (pun intended). :D

The idea that whatever good or evil that one does in this life is returned to one in this or a next life. So, everybody on this earth who is suffering is reaping their karma? And those on this earth who are living happy lives are reaping their karma? How do we explain very good people who...

I think you'd really like the book "The Soul's Religion" by Thomas Moore. Your words above are one of the best (inadvertent) summations of Moore's philosophy as I've ever read. :) You might also like his "The Re-enchantment of Everyday Life."
