Your God/Goddess

Buddha says if you surrender the ego, if you surrender yourself, you come in a harmony with the law and everything starts happening on its own. You have but to surrender. If you are ready to disappear, you will be full of the law and the law will take care.

This Law is the Objective Universe, what most refer to as God. Buddha surrendered his Ego to the Laws of the Objective Universe.

Can you site a sutta that says this? Compare with this:

"And how is a monk a noble one with banner lowered, burden placed down, unfettered? There is the case where a monk's conceit 'I am' is abandoned, its root destroyed, made like a palmyra stump, deprived of the conditions of development, not destined for future arising. This is how a monk is a noble one with banner lowered, burden placed down, unfettered.
"And when the devas, together with Indra, the Brahmas, & Pajapati, search for the monk whose mind is thus released, they cannot find that 'The consciousness of the one truly gone (tathagata) [11] is dependent on this.' Why is that? The one truly gone is untraceable even in the here & now.

You keep looking for a thing rather than a process. Would this qualify as idolatry? ;)

I am not very wise in Buddhist philosophy.
Here is this morning's post of mine from my private FB group, Luciferi Philo Sophia. In some twisted way it relates to this discussion. ;)

The Qabalah is used to understand the spiritual process and the foundation of the Universe. It provides the blueprint for Apotheosis.

In the beginning there was AIN, the eternal state of singularity. Timeless, limitless, it is both light and darkness in one, consciousness and unconsciousness at once. Parallels can be drawn to our Higher Self as AIN. Within AIN a desire to be Self-Aware was born, though nothing outside of AIN existed, nothing for AIN to reflect itself in.

This aspect of AIN wanted to create a world in which it could reflect, called she-yesh bo mahshavah and is the RHP or Right Light. The other side, she-ein bo mahshavah, wanted to remain in itself and opposed the plan of Creation. The True Adversary was being born, the LHP or Left Light.

The Right Light separated from the Left Light and a void/Abyss was created. The Right Light created the Universe, being manifest through mathematical/geometrical structures, it becomes the Objective Universe, everything which is material and is held in place by the Laws of Physics. Those on the RHP perceive themselves as the only light and the true light, they call this light, God. The Right Light creates by separating itself from the Left Light and from the singularity (AIN).

The Shadows of the RHP is the LHP, the anti-Creation. They are called the Qliphoth, they reside in the Sitra Ahra (the other side). They oppose the plan of Creation by bringing Individuality and Self-Awareness to us. When the parts of Creation gain Self-Awareness, the Right Light is prevented from seeing only itself in its creation.

When the parts of Creation become Self-Aware they can separate themselves from the creator and begin individual acts of creation, they become separate from Objective Universe ("God") and now have the possibility to become a god.

Perhaps this might be helpful: water is a thing, (although is has been metaphorically used to describe various processes.) Fire, on the other hand, is more of a process than it is a thing. ;)

Yes, and childbirth, becoming self-aware, growing up, and maturing can be a painful process. Do you let an infant who has limited self-awareness to go play in the street, or do you protect that child from the pain of meeting up with unaware with a speeding automobile by limiting them to a safe environment until they grow up enough to be aware of speeding cars? Giving the optimal amount of protection and the optimal amount of liberty to a child at various stages of development can be a tricky thing. Even the child's parents can disagree about these things. ;)

You are aware that a single photon is capable of passing through two separate slits at once, right?

If water is H2O. What is fire? Is Fire on the Elemental Chart?

I do not think SG's comment is metaphorical at all. Here is a simple experiment for all of you. Get two sets of cheap polarized galsses (oh, or keep two pair of 3D movie glasses. Break up everythinf till you have just four lenses.

Put one lens in fron of another in front of your eyes. Rotate one until all the light you see through the front disappears. Light is polarized in one of two directions, when you get the polarizers 180 degrees out, no light passes through. No biggie, right (this experiment is David Ritz Finkelstein's and is discussed in detailed in Dancing Wu Li Masters, if I remember right).

Now, put a third lens inbetween the first two and rotate it. You will find that at some angle, about 25% of the light "gets through". That is there is an angle of rotation which maximizes the brightness of what you see through the first lens.

But, all the light coming is was stopped before. What happened? By adding the third lens and rotaing it, the light coming throught the first lens has been destroyed as ir "was" (its wavefunction has been collapsed) and you have CREATED new light with half polarized 45 degrees from that getting through the first lens, and half polarized at 135 degrees from it. And this "new" light makes it through the second lens that "used to " block it.

Like SG's case, this is "just what happens" (I am a very strong Bohrian Copenhagen Interpretation physicist). It would happen if we were not there. Just like one photon interferes with itself in the Double Slit example of SG. WE (of course) won't know it. But then we do not know anything unless we witness or see it.

These are not metaphors. They are how the objective universe (which is not solely material) works.

Metaphorically speaking, it sounds like Etu Malku's Right Hand Light and Left Hand Light are actually acting like a single photon interfering with itself. ;)

Now we are faced with a Chicken and Egg situation, but what is time/before/after to light?

HA! There's my Singularity! Right Light and Left Light!
The Right Light is the aspect of the Self that reflected upon itself and thus created duality and separation from the True Self and began the descent into Malkuth (the physical plane).

what is time/before/after to light?
Wasn't Time created when the material universe was? Radar?? (he has all these neat answers!)

What happens to time when you travel at the speed of light? (as light does) ;)

Time 'appears' to stand still, but only to the person traveling at the speed of light, to anyone else this person is traveling at 186,000 mph (?).

I remain convinced that Time does not exist, only our perception of Time does. This fits snugly in my Right/Left Light drivel

Yes, I've been hearing snippets of recent philosophizing about space and time being concepts (a function of consciousness)

Nope. Time stand still for those watching someone approach a black hole (the opposite effect). It is not that time "appears" to stand still, IT JUST DOES. (see the general theory of relativity). Time is relative. For someone riding the beam of light, time passes normally, as it does for someone approaching a black hole.

But to the obsever in another frame-of-reference, the first person is travelling at the speed of light has "Slowed down", ditto with the person falling into a black hole. Time is relative, that is what relativity is all about.
