There is something about Jesus ?

what is it about Jesus, that 2000 odd years have his death he still matters so much to so many people.

From the Christians to the New Agers to Hindus to muslims. Everybody wants a piece of Jesus many want to claim ownership of Jesus.

What is it about Jesus ?

He is king over all Gods

He is king over all Gods

What in the world caused you to come to this conclusion?

There can only be one God, it is only that many people through human history have encountered what the word God actually refers to - ie, not what your mind has decided God is. There is no significance to Christ over say Muhammad or Krishna or Buddha...

Christ is popular because of the Romans - they have defeated all of Europe, and the entire Empire adopted Christianity when Augustine made it the official faith. Now, by and by, as the Roman Empire collapsed, the countries that formed were still Christian so when they went on forming their own Empires they also caused the defeated peoples to switch to Christianity.

This is how it usually is, if you were born into a certain faith it is probable that your ancestors have been defeated in some battle and been forced to adopt it. Then, as the children were taught, so your ancestors became more and more identified with this faith. The only exception as far as I can tell is Buddhism - while Buddhists have engaged in war, I do not know of any time when Buddhism was forced on anyone.

Yes indeed, you are correct in that the Christian "God" doesn't require anything but faith to reach "heaven."

I have always thought the world would be a better place if Christianity would teach that GOOD DEEDS, not faith was what allowed one entry into the kingdom of heaven. Too bad the authors of the bible in the couple of centuries after Jesus' death didn't edit that in...

Imagine, 2.1 billion people, going out on the street and helping mankind like Jesus actually did himself. Instead of just professing their faith to nonbelievers, or preaching to the choir.

Too many Christians that I know just rest on their laurels, since they're already "saved" through faith. For example, just go to a nearby Christian Sunday church service and see how many good deeds are actually performed for fellow mankind, or how much of the 10% that Good Christians tithe actually goes to helping out the needy (instead of just maintaining the church building or paying the pastor's salary).

Yes indeed, you are correct in that Christianity doesn't require anything but faith to reach "heaven." What a shame.

amen to that .. saddly there are people that want to make other people slaves to obligation .. they think obligation will feed the hungry and help sick children .. but look around most of the world opperates out of obligation .. . they do it because they think they have to .. And doing something ones heart is not in .. usurly gets things done badly
but when one understans God loves them and they are not under obligation but rather Gods love ..
MOST cant stop doing good out of thanks to such a God as that .
their heart is in it they dont do it because they feel guilty out of obligation .they do it because God has made them want to simply by loving them unconditionaly

So let me get this right, if one is motivated by wanting to share one's fruits or ease pain or just doing what is right, one is wrong.

Charity is motivated by G!ds love of us?

If we are loved unconditionally, why do good works? Why do anything at all?

People like simple answers. If you say Jesus is the answer to everything, then some people will like that because it helps them not to think. The popular answer is often an oversimplified solution. If you can create a big legend claiming some kind of special power over everything, then people will be even more interested. "Jesus is the answer. We have stories about his super powers dating from long ago. I like this. I don't have to think about anything else."
