Atheists do not love their family, friends and pets...

No, clearly you don't understand that. Because of the way you frame the question, indeed the way your thinking is framed reveals that you are looking at the entire issue from your own personal schema. Do you really think other human beings are as simplistic and two dimensional as all that? There are other ways to view this situation, but until you become willing to move out of your own world to see how others see things (theory of mind) you will not understand how an atheist thinks or feels.

Okay, fair enough then. Like I said before I believe whatever a person believes and doesn't believe is real and it matters as long as it does not harm another.

When you look at other human beings as you have described atheists, it does harm another. Essentially you reduce other human beings to the role of "object", in effect, an "it" rather than a "thou". If you have questions about how someone else sees things, ask them, rather than making blanket statements that do nothing more than reveal who you are rather than describe what you are talking about.

Alright. I really do not have anything else to say.

Yes when we're living in the here and now it does matter.

In the grand scheme of things though when we've been dead for million of years, What did it all amount up to then?

I guess my question in return would be - Does it all have to amount to something? And if so, what would you consider that to be?

I would like to believe my life amounted to something in the grand scheme of things and I made a difference in the world for the better. With an afterlife though at least you would be able to remeber it all and that it actually happened. Also you would be able to spend however long you wanted to with your loved ones, I personally believe if there is an afterlife the it will have these attributes. If there is no afterlife then basically when you die then it would be like we never even existed and we were just like garbage throwed away... That doesn't work for me at all. So the former is what I would consider that too be. Again though me being an agnostic I accept all possibilitys and whatever happens happens. I accept that. Even if it doesn't work for me.

Okay, I checked it out and to be honest I did not see one part were He said he hoped for a afterlife. So.... did I miss something or what?

To me, all his writings and his ontological system are founded on what is, to him and to me, the truth of reincarnation.

DC believed that the evolution of a Self involved a progression through more and more evolved bodies.

I think, for instance, it is implicit here:
the world is just animated forms and the discarded bodies as consciousness moved onward and upward in complexity.

This one makes it clearer, perhaps: The Evolution of Awareness - THE AWAKENING SELF

I love these arguments, i find them so silly and circular...

What evidence of afterlife do we have?? Other than a whim? a wish?

There has been people who has gone beyond and back, They claimed there was something after this life. Source A few Documentarys on this, All you gotta do is look it up and take it how you want it.

Ah, but you said reincarnation and reincarnation is different from a hereafter from what I've read.

Faith that we will meet our pets on the other side?

Again, where does this belief come from? What is it you have faith in?

You're asking the wrong guy. I'm the one who needs more than faith. And there is nothing else.

But Wil, you believe in a God being do you not? You hold the Gnostic view that God is in all of us? Indeed in all living creatures? Isn't that what you believe?

If so, where does your belief in God come from? Is it not as nebulous as a belief in an afterlife?

And are you wondering how many questions I can ask in a row?

No?

Why not?

Wil, you believe in a God Being but you don't believe in a afterlife? Belief in God seems as wishful as Belief in a hereafter then If you want to play that game. Do you see the ignorance in that? Hows that for silly?

As to NDEs...we know that eye witness accounts and ear witness accounts are useless....but we are to believe what someone has 'seen' and 'heard' whilst in a coma, or without a heartbeat and brain function??

Really? Wanna hear my dreams about multiple dimensions of willing women?

I don't believe in a G!d "being", no critter, or larger than life anthropomorphic character living in a humid celestial cloud. And got no clue what hereafter is...I just like many atheists intend to live this life as best we can, without the need for some good/evil scale or permanent record controlling our behaviour.

But did Dookie just put hisseff on ignore?? Classic....I don't want to hear what I have to say either, I'm gonna check that out!
