learning from one's mistakes is what you are referring to... but we are not talking about touching a hot stove, we are talking about false prophets claiming dates.
Does claiming a date constitute a prophecy? There are many prophecies in the Bible that God has sealed - and each one of them will be unsealed in due course. So, if a person, or an organisation thinks they have "unsealed" one of the Bible's many prophecies... only to discover that they may not have succeeded at their first attempt - does that really make someone a false prophet?
I look through Revelation sometimes, and think I might find something new, but if I could actually make myself guilty of false prophecy simply by trying to understand a prophetic scripture - should I even try in the first place?
