It is interesting...I've actually had to defend that same point myself recently! But, apparently I'm still going to hell in a handbasket.

Well, this woman is taking a long time to make her post. Her main point is that today's televangelists are not nearly as 'offensive' as Jesus was in his day. My point being sure, the choice between the way of the world or the way of God is 'offensive' because it demands sacrifice from us, and asks us to trust God. That's actually at the root of a lot of our problems, being unable to trust God, so we need to do all these things to try to make ourselves secure, we trust ourselves instead, and we don't want to hand over that control. Anyway, I don't think that means we should use judgement and fear as the way of evangelizing.

Fear didn't win me over...paternal love did. What I needed was there when I needed it.

Oh please let me join in anyone that takes up for televangelists *any of them* need to cut their TV off and pick up their Bible.
There are some great Biblical teachers online and on radio....TV is just to expensive for them not to stumble.

Well, I don't think that she's actually defenidng televangelists, but she's saying they are offensive, but Jesus was more offensive, the implication being that Christians should be offensive.

OF COURSE Jesus was offensive...to anyone who is against the scheme of things. I mean can't have two bosses...

I agree with that part...but not that our mission is to judge and preach damnation. Our mission is the reconciliation of the world in and through Christ. Healing.
