smoking

One more packet of cigarettes then I'm giving up (got those Champix tabs and have to smoke for first 8 days). Am terrified and sure I will fail ... so no doubt will!!

best of luck, am in process of taking them and they certainly make them taste disgusting but a day must be set to stop completely for once and for all..hoping some nicotinell inhalers will suffice for the hands/mouth thing if desperately stressed and have a couple of stop smoking visualisation tapes to listen to- eek!

Best of wishes to the both of you, I'll say a little prayer (for all its worth).

Quitting is hard...just remember though, if you fail and fall back off the wagon you can still climb back on, as many times as it takes. I've been "quit" now for about a year and a half, but every once in a while, less than once a month, I might smoke one. It sure beats a half pack a day or more.

Oh brilliant we'll do it together then. Tomorrow is my give up day

Do they make you wretch or vomit? I get dreadfully sick with them.

Will confess woke up this morning and thought just do it today ... lasted 50 minutes then had 3 lol

I have written a list of why I want to stop and taped it everywhere. Also got my push bike fixed so will go for a short ride whenever I want one.

Just don't do the "I can have one then stop again", that's how I keep failing ... am a slow learner :D

hope youre doin ok; my doctor told me to set a date two weeks after the starter pack and it seems to give time to a] smoke less b] let the pills kick in c] acclimatize . I set it for full moon on 25th [great for any fasting or major intentions] with my sons birthday on the 28th in case l cant quite extricate connections, so am a bit like you!

Even if you cant stop 100% you will reduce massively because they do taste absolutely disgusting but so long as we continue the pills it's inevitable that we will give up [up to 6 mths if need be the dr. said, so long as there are no side efffects] - yes l do feel nauseous and cant finish or even enjoy a smoke now, talk about repulsive [?] therapy.

And thanks juan, every little prayer helps and even more so empathy:)

ps 'stop smoking for good' paul mckenna, l got mp3 for free on internet but cant remember where

Paul McKenna is a load of nonsense. I tried the 'sleep like a log' crap. Three weeks straight, did not change a thing.

As you can note from your post, It is the medication that is obstructing your habit not the mp3 :/

some are more susceptible to subliminal/and or anothers voice, l know the last time l stopped when l was pregnant [without medication] a particular visualisation tape helped me..l wasnt 'resisting' it; this mckenna one l am asleep before 15 minutes are up but certain words/affirmations 'stick'..any which way to help unlearn..you gotta try to find out and you found out it didnt work for you [men are less easy to hypnotise- harder to surrender?!]

Not just weed, even tobacco can be a spiritual substance.. Grown and raised from mother earth ;) From a solid physical substance to an astral translucent form! Far out dude.

You know, you're probably right, it maybe be that organically grown tobacco might be a lot safer than the pesticide-dumped tobacco of industrial nations. After all, tobacco has a long use among shamans all over North and South America.

My personal experience with tobacco was not very spiritual but more like a stimulant rush followed by a light-headed depressant feeling at higher dosages. I personally couldn't find much spirituality at all from tobacco. Perhaps I should eat high dose (instead of smoking a high dose) to really get down to what the native american shamans of old and even today experience.

Still, when it comes down to it, cannabis can be quite spiritual even at medium smoked dosages. Plus it just feels more natural for the body somehow. And besides, thc is the one that kills cancerous cells, not nicotine. Unless you burn plant matter that has thc, you raise your risk to get cancer, tobacco or not.

You are obviously just a propagandized goon, unable to actually think. Therefore, real science is lost on you.

Really? Just like your dogmatic notion that socialism has to have a coercive state forcing policies down your throat? It's quite clear to everyone that you are the propagandized one here. You don't even realize how words mean different things to different people, and over time have lost their original meaning.

I provided scientific evidence with clear consistent flow that countered your claims with precise elegance. Don't blame me that you fail hard, and that you are trying to mislead other users here by not posting the full texts to the studies you were trying to cite. It's quite clear that the vast majority of studies on cannabis and lung cancer show that the ones who got cancer while smoking cannabis also smoked tobacco, and that there is no real evidence cannabis-only smokers get lung cancer (even heavy cannabis smoking).

I provided scientific evidence every bit as "scientific" and "elegant" as yours. The papers I cited appeared in respectable, peer-reviewed journals, cited in Medline/PubMed. You dismissed them merely because their conclusions did not agree with your prejudices.

However, for some truly stupid, mystical reason, your group of papers is magically sprinkled with fairy dust and totally true, while mine is totally false?

Demonstrate how the references I cited are wrong, don't just try to shout me down. Illustrate how they are flawed.

Don't pull the "you don't understand science" crap with me, either little child. I have already posted my scientific publication list on these boards. Where is yours? Where are the peer-reviewed publications to your name? If you want to do "scientific" flag-waving, make sure you have something to wave.

hope youre doin ok;

How are you doing?

I have gone from 40 a day to 3 or 4 a day but am finding it impossible to drag up the willpower to stop those last 4 ... am disgusted with my weak willed self

I have slapped a patch on today, as well as the horrid pills, in an effort to give up those last 4. The pills are making me quite sick (vomiting and dizzy all the time) but I am NOT giving up ... if they kill me at least I will die a non smoker :D

Am eating like a half starved horse but can worry about dieting in a couple of months.

similar, have a little tobacco left but now on to the inhaler ..unfortunately am accepting a *** at work which l smoke and stub out and smoke and stub out..not very healthy. If youve smoked for as long as l have its bound to be difficult to stop completely so maybe you should cruise on the amount you are on until a better head space transpires. l am just glad l have stopped buying cigarettes..the problem will be if l buy some:eek: seems a waste to go back to the former way eh? so pat yourself on the back in the meantime:)

I'm not about to suggest my way is the best way, everybody has to find what works best for them. I weaned myself down to that last one or two a day and couldn't seem to shake the last little bit. I went on like that for a few years...one or two a day, and maybe one bad day a month when I would smoke 5 or 6. Even at that I could tell the difference...it wasn't good, but it wasn't nearly as bad either.

Keep at it, you're doing just fine.

yuck...I remember the lean times when I didn't have much choice to feed the addiction, but is the taste ever so nasty, even for a cigarette. :p

Yep.

Yeah, that was always one of my crutches...well, if I buy a pack, I can't let it go to waste...

I started keeping them in the freezer...at least they stay fresh longer that way. Then you can stretch a pack out as far as you can. ;)

No idea, but I try to -believe- it will work so that it'll have some effect so far no luck, I think I will keep at it, although lately I have been listening to a set of "sleep music" that I have aqquired. Which seems better.

That it would be, and also if used only for ritual and not just constant habit (moderation) There is an affect on the mind, I am not sure if you are a smoker? But if you are it shall be very simple to explain, (or any other smokers) Recall when you -started- smoking once you had overcome that toxic odour... That choking feeling lol.... How it became smooth, and it left your mind in a hazey rush.... I recall sitting in many class rooms cruising on the haze.

That effect an be a very ritual experience I'd believe, espcially for those who used tools such as marijuana and peyote. All just different levels... Different states of ones spiritual journey, one of many many paths people find their drive to peace, guidance and inspiration. I think they not worry about the physical risks, it is these risks that help them spirtually and mentally achieve.

Hmm talked to a friend who is a smoking ceasation nurse and she said champix with any nicotine product is simply cancelling each other out.

Don't you dare buy any. I have smoked for (whispers.....34 years) and we are going to kick this together!! It is killing us, costing us a fortune AND giving us wrinkles (lol I am such a girl sometimes .. cancer .. who cares ... wrinkles ... NOOooooooo).

Keep at it, you're doing just fine.

Am delighted to tell you both that yesterday I gave up those last 4 ... I am now a smoke free zone :D

I realised that it is Ramadan next month and I have never completed a full Ramadan because I can't go all day without a ciggy ... so this year I AM going to fast for the full month YAY

Thanks so much for the support.

All of these chemical methods are the spiritual equivalents of training wheels. They have their place, but the training wheels eventually have to come off if one really wants to ride the bike.

Yeah that is a nice opinion and way of putting it, However for my "spiritual" journey I'll continue to use the tools the Earth has supplied me rather than the tools man offers me.

Keep hobbling along on crutches, don't ever bother to learn to walk or run. Enslave yourself to an object.

well done! please let us know how different Ramadan is experienced smoke free..am still on the one or two roll ups a day

Smoking...destroys the body and inhibits the senses. It restricts the passages that otherwise allow the life force, air, to permeate our beings. It promotes busy minds and rapid heart rates. All of these factors disconnect you from the moment, which brings your body out of balance with the world around you.

If you need a moment of clarity, or if you need a calming effect, or if you need to release some stress.... try the high of meditation.
