recovering sinner
Jehovah witnesses.
Just had two Jehovah witnesses knocking my door, an elderly couple.
The man talked something about all the weapons we have and about people all over the world are created of God.
He read something from the Bible talked about the righteous shall inherit the earth.
I let them have their say.
I almost let them in, i thought they may have been friends of my late Grandmother from her Church.
They asked me did i want a Bible I think, and any leaflets, I refused.
I've had them before, they don't mean nothing to me.
I felt sorry for them, I thought poor people, they're walking round these doors think they're doing God's will, and people are probably looking at them like they're deluded.
I sat down and thought on this a little, should I have have invited them in, told them what I thought, would it have done any good.
Thinking on this and what could I have said.
I thought maybe I could have said to them, what good do you do coming round these doors, what help and witness do you offer anyone.
Where were you when my Grandmother was dieing, my sister on heroin.
I could have said to them it was the Hospice who was there when my Grandmother was dieing.
If you're going to go round peoples doors, then maybe you could offer them God's love.
Not just in the words of a book, but your willingness to help people.
And I'm sure many doors that they knock truly need this help, this witness.
Maybe they could offer help and support, imagine that a Jehovah witness, being a Jehovah witness, not just in their words or leaflets, but in their willingness to be witnesses in their actions and outreached hands to come into peoples homes and be God's love to people.
I could say why don't I do that.
I haven't even got the nerve to knock on peoples doors.
But as they do, maybe they could go that little bit further, and instead of being a hinderence be a help.
Not be taken advantage of, but be a real help and comfort to people which is good for us all to be.
Maybe they could work with hospices, maybe visit and help elderly people, disabled people, work with struggling families.
For it does say in all Bibles, I was naked and you clothed me, sick and you visited me.
It also says to help the fatherless and widows.
