Some pretty sweet animation by a god of design.
M.C.Escher a fantastic draughtsman and obvious mathematician![]()

you will appreciate this then

Yes, about 5 months ago.ah a perfect opportunity...did you do that inlay?
Would making an inlaid chess board with both the squares and a background image be feasible? {Contemplating a birthday gift for my brother.}Yes, about 5 months ago.
I may do another horse inlay soon.
Here's a picture of former Washington state Governor Gary Locke, his wife Mona Lee Locke, and their two of their three children, Emily and Dylan. {I don't think Madeline had been born yet when this picture was taken.}seattlegal, ok, im half cut so now ill say it, that avatar dont exacatly bring to mind someone that lives in seattle.
LOL.

I think you must be mistaken SG? Those are chinese people? ()
They are of Chinese ancestry.I am thinking Japanese...which would help to explain some of the close business ties Japan has with Washington state...apples, farms, our NW rain forests, things like that.

And dude...your avatar is so, like, Jason...or Metallica.
P.S., I've got a pretty good idea where Greymare's boat avatar came from...![]()
I was thinking of something more like Escher's Sun and Moon, except using squares instead of birds.Feasible?
Depends on the design.
I can see a silhouette being the most feasible as the colors can be alternated without losing the board pattern.
A flute playing asian princess would be most difficult to incorporate into such a piece.
That's what I was thinking, with maybe a black granite with white flecks for the night sky background, the moon out of a white marble, and the sun out of a gold travertine, with maybe a blueish marble or agate (can you even get agate slabs? The sun could be done with honey onyx, or there are a few travertine styles which could be used as they have the sun rays already as a feature, but they would have to be picked carefully to get the proper effect and that could be difficult to find.
Not impossible, but challenging.
That's what I was thinking. Lemme think about it for a while...There is another way of doing it which would involve making the 2 designs separate, epoxying them together and then cutting them into the grid pattern.
If you are interested in pursuing this you could PM me.
