What Movies Have You Seen Recently?

don't watch a lot of movies but babel l saw and would recommend, l liked the way it was filmed and agree seemed surreal to begin with, how everything was interconnected..cant remember if the soundtrack/music was good [have to watch it again so that will be..never!].

Just saw UHF starring "Weird Al" Yankovic (yes, of parody fame.)

It was, um, surrealistic for lack of a better term (I mean, he let Michael Richards [yes, Kramer from Seinfeld] have very little restraint in his on-screen character, and both Fran Drescher and Billy Barty were, um, interesting to say the least when dealing with one of the main villain's sons.)

Transformers 2 - kids liked it...nice special effects, more of the same, nothing new...some more of the story...but nothing spectacular (as contrasted by the box office)

Hangover - IMO Surpasses Animal House, Blues Brothers, in bringing elementary fart humor to the next level. It is a merger of Jack Ass (I can't believe they just did that) with a raunchy comedy, and a plot like a suspense thriller. It is edgy, sex, violence, drugs, alcohol, it has it all. You'll laugh, you'll be offended, a little sickend, confused, and most of all if you've ever walked on the wild side just a little bit, it'll resonate with you. If you've walked on the wild side quite a bit, you'll think there but by the grace of G!d go I.

there but by the grace of G!d go I.
Strange old saying that one. There are always two paths we can go by but there is always time to change the road your on. Hmmmm think there is a song in there somewhere :D

Yup you always have free will to pick new path imo despite numerous posts to the contrary on other threads...

But the saying makes sense to me as it took me decades to choose another path...and the path that I was on was one of mutual assured destruction....and for some reason I was spared...

Now I just live vicariously thru movies, memories and others stories...of course the kids are headed off to college in a couple years...

I think there are destructive episodes in everybody's lives and while it is natural to wallow in it for a little while it always is a learning experience. And, of course, new pastures beckon.
Funny how that path can wind right back round tho. Off next wknd to stay at the home of my ex-wife (15 yrs divvied) to watch beaver. Real ones!
(Then off to Cornwall for a week).

Yeah, slumdog makes you wonder when you travel thru a town and dirty, impovershed half naked kids come with their handout who you are feeding....

True! Very sad to think that there is heartless people out there that would do that to kids. That film covered everything from religion, philosophy and destiny or mixed together. I quite like Indian culture aswell also made me aware of the stuff people in poverty have to go through.

Episodes of the cartoon series Sam and Max: Freelance Police (I was over at my friends' Tyler and America's place and they showed me the entire series [it's been surreal].)

I've recently wacthed Night in the museum 2 and bed time stories, great comedies.

NitM2 Was average...... Not at all as good as the first PM, The only scene I found amusing to the point of laughter out loud was the "don't touch it" scene Stiller has with the Security guard.

Bed time stories in my list to watch, I think it's 8th on the list.

I liked Abe stompin around...interesting how the 'magic' got outside. But like so many, most of the funny stuff was in the trailer and made the movie dissapointing.

You still haven't mentioned Hangover...which I thought was just the opposite!

Who hasn't mentioned hangover?

Watched three films tonight (really only want to 'plug' one of them but will tell you about the others....)

Hungover.. 6/10
Pretty funny has it's moments...

Land of the Lost.. 7/10
Very funny great film... Recommend! :D

Madea goes to jail.... 9.5/10
Totally... What? wow! Did, not, expect, this. I never read up about any films.... I just watch um... This film I saw the picture.. You got that dude dressed up as an old black woman... I thought, ok here comes another 'big momma' film.. And prepared myself for a few chuckles here and there.... I was freaking blown away....

This film has -everything- this is a good allrounder... You have comedy, drama, supense, thriller... REALITY....

It's like sections, little films/stages... and they are all very different, yet they are woven together..... Starts ff with Madea... And this funny old criminal woman... Then it turns, this is where the unexpected pace change came for me.. It turns to the story of a man who made it out from the ghetto.. and well he struggles to help this woman that he knew and wasn't as lucky... And as it goes on, this 'street preacher' and madea come into the picture too.... And I don't want to ruin this... But Please.... See this film, you shouldn't be disappointed..... It takes on truth... It takes on dealing with pain... It takes on forgiveness.....

The Dr Phil scenes are freaking hilarious!!!

"forgiveness isn't for them, it's for you."

Those that haven't seen hangover, I watched it a second time, and it improved..... Alot in it I think is meh... But the general idea is pretty sweet of a mystery tour around vegas trying to re-trace footsteps to figure out the mysteries of the night before......

Fave parts...

Fat dude getting k.t.f.o by Tyson... I rewinded that bit a fair few times..... Oh how I chortled....

I also when it shows you their room the morning after... Had flashbacks of fear and loathing in Las Vegas.

I've got to revisit Animal House as I think the combination of the mystery, the plot turns and twists, as all the completely strange happenings were understood as time went on was great. the tiger, the baby, the chinese chasing them, the tooth, the mattress, all seemingly strange and out of the realm of reality slowly brought into the realm of possiblity. I mean who hasn't been there? It relates to everyone, or is that just me.

I've had times where I didn't get the explanation for strange events for years.

The scary part... in the movie I still don't have an answer to the chicken....but in real life I do.
