And I liked it. I've not often laughed at someone getting their head blown off. It was interesting as I generally dislike movies that don't take me out of reality and into the movie. This one was always a movie and even a take off on a movie, all so contrived, edge of reality I thought it facinating.

Now for folks walking out of movies...first one ever was Deliverance, the Ned Beatty seen had them leaving in droves, similar scenes in Borat and Team America that folks couldn't take.

I've seen that with Mars Attacks (the theater manager literally gave refunds to the audience with that one.)

Concerning Ned Beatty's "scene": was it the one where one of the "hillbillies" told his character to squeal like a pig? There's a d@mn good reason people walked out during that scene (male rape is not something most people are comfortable with.) Bit of trivia here concerning that scene: during the filming of the movie, after that particular scene was finished, it took six men to keep Ned Beatty from killing that one actor (and that was just a fictional assault!)

Why did he accept the role??? yeah that was the scene.
 
Its pretty bad when the best thing to come out of a movie is the theme song...duelling banjos. Great song, too bad its associated with such a horrible flick.
 
Made of Honor.... Terribly slow start... Warmed up... Funny, middle-ish to end great.... 6.5 - 10.

Realitive Strangers... Pretty darn funny... Good morales to be learnt also.. About a rich successful business guy from rich family... Finds out he is adopted.... Has the pleasure of meeting his real parents..... 8 - 10.

The Promotion.... Parts are pretty funny, could of been better, disliked the ending..... 6 - 10.

Baby Mama... Very frustrating come the end for me lol... But all in all pretty good EH! Worth seeing 8 - 10

Also watched "nuns on the run" yesterday lol... I've always loved that classic :D

Hmmmm Oh, 'You don't mess with the Zohan.' lol pretty good An Israeli Special Forces Soldier fakes his death so he can go to New York and become an hair stylist lol.... It sounds much better than it is in all reality, funny watching him progress and how him and "his people" act towards the palestinians.... Specially come the end ;) 7 - 10.

I'd said I'd never laughed so hard about someone being killed. That was true but was surpassed this weekend with....Burn after reading.

And now while infidelity is something that has always bothered me. I must say I laughed quite a bit at that too.
 
Great music, Michael Myers, Ice Hockey, comedy....... 'The Love Guru' Pretty much a perfect film for me lol.... Found this real funny 9 - 10 :D

Been downloading tons of random films latley... Watched Rock Camp.. Disney child film really... Not bad but not really my thing but yeah... 5 - 10..

'Postal'.... 2 - 10... Really poor....
 
I've been watching some classic Marx Brothers films that I took out of the campus library. Some of them transcend the decades while others are rather dated.

The Frisco Kid.... (9 out of 10.)

It is about a Rabbi(Gene Wilder) from Poland. Who finishes a close 47 out of 46 students that study to become a rabbi... He however is the only one which speaks English, and is sent to the new comunity of Jews in San Francisco.... (Set back in the wild west days ;))

The story follows his very long and difficult and different and funny and sad and thrilling journey to get there..... I was searching on IMdb for Gene Wilder to find if there were any films of his I hadn't seen and this seems to be one of the last ones I haven't got.... So I got it, and I must say it's in the top three of his films.... Such character the rabbi has and such troubles... OY VEY!!! :eek:

Never seen it then, you should!
 
Can't believe nobody's mentioned Lord of the Rings - just re-watched it recently after spotting it going cheap on dvd.

Fellowship is stronger than a world full of oaths. Magic.

howdy everyone

this past weekend i went ahead and saw, Rambo. hoover dam! that was an awesome movie. i giggled like a little school girl at the amount of violence in that movie. it DID NOT sugercoat anything in the story about the mass murder of the inhabitants of Burma, which i think is actually happening at this moment (unless otherwise??). my favorite quote from the movie is a part where the woman is trying to convince Rambo to take her missionary church group into Burma and Rambo is refusing because he feels that nothing will change and their lives are in danger. she says, "you know, it isn't wasting your life if you're trying to save a life." or something along the lines like that. it makes total sense to me. another aspect is Rambo always being there to destroy the evil doers like a messenger of death. he truly plays the part of "action hero". something that has been sorely missed since the days of the movie Commando or the first Rambo movies.

another movie i saw previously was Street Kings. amazing movie as well. its about a special "Vice" unit within LAPD that is corrupt. or is it? the subject matter about how crime is punished walks a thin line between right and wrong. truly something to contemplate when it comes to doing away with evil people in Los Angeles. basically this unit takes the law into their own hands and i couldn't help but think that this story is based somewhat in reality. i truly believe that it is. in a terrible world such as this it makes sense that peace officers take matters into their own hands. i know it happens in mexico, so why not in LA? anyways its a movie that reveals a side to law enforcement that dare not cross the minds of unsuspecting citizens.

i also saw the movie Ruins. lots of violence and gore. horror flick. depressing. awesome story though. flesh. eating. plants. 'nuff said.

*spoilers, though i doubt it since the forum is filled with geeks*

oh and quakeyjase, the Lord of the Rings trilogy are amazing movies. i remember that the first time i saw fellowship, i screamed at the movie in the theater (i know, pretty pathetic) when Gandalf died. i immediately went out and bought the books and got a head start. to my content, he didn't die! can't say enough that Legolas is muh favorite character. total badass. reminds of Link for the Legend of Zelda games.
 
Choke, Blindness, How to lose friends and alienate people, Appaloosa, An American Carol.

All of them interesting aspects of power and corruption. But then again I guess that is common.

First three all have a surrealistic, mind binding aspect to them.

The fourth your classic western shootem up.

The last was the most dissapointing, as dissapointing as any Michael Moore film.
