What Movies Have You Seen Recently?

The Hogfather parts 1 and 2. This was my first thorough introduction to Discworld material, although this is the second Discworld item I've seen. The first was a large colorful picture book about a quest that some little short guy was on, though the memory of it is vague except for the pictures. Hogfather was funny, entertaining and thought provoking.

The Expendables.......... Lol, my favourite......All my action heroes......... but was a little dissappointed that Stone Cold Steve Austin was the bad guy!!! (I guess that they had to have a FORMIDABLE opponent) LOL

And
Avatar........great movie.......visually beautiful...... awesome.

The Kids Are Alright with Annette Benning and Julianne Moore.

we're waiting for A Soldier's Girl, a true life story of Calperina Addams.

metta,

Little Fockers... I expected it to be rubbish, it was anything but. Really enjoyed it.

Get Him to the Greek... Not sure if I mentioned this one before? lol I LOVES IT!

Also been watching the "Sharpe's" A TV series of films that was set in Napoleonic era.

DREAM: Never seen the movie Hogfather, but I am currently listening to all the Terry Pratchett audio books... There are so many lol Haven't got to the Hogfather yet that is like book 35 or something. But I love the style and way they are written very funny.

Took my 13 yr old daughter to see The Black Swan. Oops. As she told her friends on Facebook...Awkward. Good intense dance psycho-drama. Now I know how my mom felt when she took me to see Last Tango in Paris when it first came out.

Saw True Grit....the John Wayne version and the new Jeff Bridges model all in the same week. I'm not a big JW fan but I have yet to see a Jeff Bridges movie that stunk (except Starman). My favorite JBs: Thunderbolt and Lightfoot; The Fisher King; Texasville; The new Tron; American Heart; The Vanishing; Fearless; Seabiscuit; and...Oh. My. God.... Crazyheart.

If you love trains Unstoppable is worth the popcorn on a big screen.

Chronicles of Narnia; Voyage of the Dawn Treader...3D.

The two previous in this series had a fairly steady pace and for the most part stayed true to the story line. This one seemed a bit hurried. There really wasn't time to develop the plot points from one vignette to the next, so there was a lot of nuance that got left out. That said, in typical Disney fashion it was visually entertaining. There was a plot point or two I don't recall from the story (read the entire series shortly after the first movie was released), I suspect added in to tie some things together. Overall not bad, but as typical the book is better than the movie. I will add it to my movie collection when it comes out. It will be interesting to see if Disney continues the saga.

Fight Club. Again and again and again. I love it--never gets old. In my opinion, it's a beautiful ballad about a nihilistic path to enlightenment, adorned with dark humor; today's classic, societal violence; and delicious tidbits of absurdity. <3 I'll love Palahniuck forever.

Saw Brat again. Definitely not for the faint of heart (lots of violence, including the gang assault of woman who helped the main character in a Russian Mafiya hit.)

The movies I have to watch in my Russian Studies classes...

Grand Tourino was great....lot of social implications brought up.

latest for me....

Hangover II not as out there as the first...almost methodical, but fun.

Bridesmaids.....Chickflick trying to make hay as female hangover....some hilarious moments mixed with some quite painful awkward ones.

Best thing about the X men...the showing of how the characters became the characters....was the preview for the new Planet of the Apes and how the Apes came to rule the world....now that should be fun, both in combination discuss how a ruling species wipes out the previous species...and points to our race, class and religious wars that are currently playing out.

The wife and I watched the documentary "Fierce Grace" last night about the life and times of Ram Dass. Incredibly powerful, even after his stroke Ram Dass is at the height of his insight, and loving kindness.

nope havent seen insidious..........ive lost my stomach for horrors.
But recently saw...... Super 8......very good movie. oh and Green Lantern........like it too.!!!!!!!!!! Looking forward to Captain American and Cowboys and Aliens.... (there seems to be a theme here me thinks?!)

funny... i found a site that i can watch all the old, bad, movies i used to love to watch and do my own MST3K to.

so i found Bloodsucking Freaks! just as awesomely bad as it ever was!

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0077247/

i dunno... some people don't like bad movies...but i do. provided i don't have to pay for them, of course. in any case, bad movies are excellent diversions.

that would be great!!!

MST3K is online now but you've got to pay to watch and it's not nearly as funny as when Joel was on. Time magazine even rated it as one of the 100 best television shows of all time.... go figure :)

Has anyone seen the Peaceful Warrior? What do people think?
I'm trying to get my girlfriend to focus more on the now and sort out her priorities. I thought the movie would be a good start, I shall make her watch it ten or so times.

'Twas "movie night" at my friends'/"tech support team's" place, so they provided the "entertainment" while I provided the "movie food". Movie was Up, movie nosh was cheesy American biscuits (recipe will be provided in the Mystery Thread if anybody's interested), fresh blueberries and seedless black grapes. Next week will be mystery movie, homemade white pizzas, more fresh fruit and pheasant summer sausage and/or snack sticks. Phyllis Sidhe_Uaine
