What Movies Have You Seen Recently?

The new Sherlock Holmes movie. I had read some bad reviews for it, but I really enjoyed it. Now I have to see the first one.
I believe the second much better than the first....hope you aren't too disappointed and anticipate your thoughts.

Saw Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close yesterday. Cried like a 13 year old girl throughout the movie...it touched me deeply. Highly recommended.
Got to agree.... that movie was on target from start to finish... when it was over it wasn't over, yet another twist, and one that just made you love it all the more...

weird how that actress is growing on my, and interestingly all the more so with HD crows feet.

the artist...wunnerful different but wunnerful.

Drive was an unnecessary waste of my time in my humble opinion. I felt that the use of the "f-bomb" and all of the violence was unnecessary, especially the stomping on the one character's head repeatedly beyond the point that his skull gave way, right in front of the girl you were dating (the elevator scene.)

Strange isn't it, one man's meat...

Saw a friend at the weekend who thought it was a brilliant film.

For myself:

Coriolanus.

Decent directorial debut by Fiennes but in the lead role he is fiercely intense. Great script by a guy called Shakespeare.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Good but a little flawed in the structure I think; he says cryptically.

I watched 'Machine Gun Preacher' I thought before hand not knowing much about it.... Ok cheesy title, really oozing with cheese... Going to be some kind of lame action film, turns out it's a true story... Turns out I assumed too much and turns out this film is tragic... Watched it with my fam all smoking and having a laugh and relaxing chilling thinking this would be ok background noise... It dominated for two hours and it left us in silence I found it hard to keep from shedding tears deep, powerful and sad..... Oh and some graphic moments not too many but enough. :(

Machine Gun Preacher....great flick...

I don't support violence as a methodology as a rule....but I do support their cause.

I've known about Kony for years and am thankful there is a move afoot to finally stop him. He started out as a freedom fighter and is now inhuman.

I recommend everyone take a gander at this flick....

Now 17th for something much more relaxed catch "Jeff, living at home"

Wil hey brethren, I had no idea about this kind of thing and Kony... Really messed me up seeing it, I know you don't support violence but isn't that they key to the story? He starts as this cold blooded killer.... He found his faith and began to change to a good and positive man and then (Totally get this) He gets drawn into his cause I guess to a degree he becomes a Kony 2.0 and he stops playing with the children and giving them time because he becomes so focused on fighting the evil that surrounds ( can't blame him. ) but he then devolves back to his killing ways until that end scene... Where he kicks the football... :) Remembers what it's about...

Yes on a lighter note lol, "Saving Grace" I am not one for Brit films and TV shows and so on I don't know they all have this vibe to them.... But Saving grace.... lol worth a watch.

Saving Grace (2000) - IMDb

i recently saw Vexille, an anime about Japan in the year 2077. it was really well done, imo, and well worth a watch for those of you into that genre.

"Taking Chance".

When an American soldier dies in combat, her/his remains are escorted home by another member of the military to ensure the soldier is treated with honor at every step of her/his journey. This film is based on a true story about a soldier who died in Iraq & the officer that escorted him home to his family. I dripped tears through most of this film.

Argo

I highly recommend it! At least 4 1/2 meows out of 5.

It's about a rescue mission of six American Embassy employees in Iran back in 1979/1980, and how the Canadians and the Swiss helped (although the Swiss only provided the flight out of Iran [I guess], while the Canadians actually put their lives on the line to hide the Americans in their embassy (while all of the other embassies turned the Americans away [unfortunately reminiscent of the different countries during Nazi Germany turning away the European Jews]) as well as provide fake passports and other items to actually get the Americans onto the plane out.) Oh, and several Hollywood "bigwigs" in their respective fields also provided huge assistance, including the script that was used to BS the new Iranian regime. The actual scriptwriter (the actual script was one that the producer had on hand that he was about to do the world a favor and destroy [from what I understood from the movie].)
