Fictionalize Yourself

Ah, the joys of school supplies for over 300 people. I'm grateful that my friends are helping me by working on getting computers for my guests to use (and teaching them how to use them properly, not like the way some students we've encountered do [computer games don't belong in class, especially important lectures].) I'm making sure they can't read the Things I Learned From My Patients thread because some of the "lessons" would make most of them "go ballistic" (not good just before or anytime after a martial arts class.)

Chii and the newest :kitty:s saw the vet today (Chii had to have her updated physical while the new :kitty:s got their baseline physicals.) It's a good thing the vet now has a "home visit" van (I don't think the DPW appreciates mechas roaming the streets for doctor visits, non-human or otherwise.) Wren volunteered to fly them, but I'd rather not cause too many traffic delays in front of my apartment complex (Wren's now working on stuff so that he can go into helicopter mode instead of only into spaceship or airplane modes [he's so thoughtful. :)])

Gotta go. The twins are up to something and Wren's involved (when will they ever learn?)

I just got photos from Harleyfest (most of my guests made friends with quite a few of the bikers and one of the bikers took pictures of my guests riding different bikes [Sakuya, Byakuya, Kenji, Shuuhei and a few others actually got to drive a bit {the looks on their faces are priceless, if I do say so myself}].)

I :kitty:sat several ferals who were temporarily displaced (that was "fun") but Nekoyashiki took over with his companions ("You don't know how to handle them properly.") Someday we'll be on the same page here. *sigh* Oh, well.

Everybody who signed up for classes had their first day of class this week (Kenji, Renji and Shuuhei were outclassed by Clare in the Karate IV class, much to the instructor's chagrin.) Keigo has a 10 page report due Monday (his mouth overloaded his backside, if you get my meaning) and nobody's willing to do anything other than point him to the online card catalogs and search engines ("You got yourself in this jam, you'll get yourself out of it.")

Gotta go. "Homework" is causing a ruckus with the neighbors.

Everybody's  over here (we were abruptly awaken by the smoke detectors going off at 5 due to someone cooking and "getting distracted", not getting back in for another half hour.) The thing is that we didn't get to sleep until roughly 1 this morning (I know, I know. "Get yourself to bed, young lady!") The ice spirits were a bit more "at home" outside due to the lower temperature, but even they were miserable.

Keigo's mouth wrote a check that his backside couldn't cash, so he's working on more homework (someday he'll learn.) Ah, well. He keeps us on our toes, except for the :kitty:s (no matter how well he can defend, they are better at attacking [sneakier].) He's trying to get Nekoyashiki to call off the troops, but our onmyoujin isn't paying the kid any heed (I think he's actually egging the :kitty:s on.)

Yuki's got his little boy to sleep with Chii's help (I think he'll give the :kitty: an extra treat as a personal thank you.) He'll go out to practice with the other musicians later so he won't wake up his son (we're planning a last block party of the season for this week [yeah, they've gotten to that stage where the parties are lasting about a week with breaks for school].) Don't worry, guys. I won't participate Wednesday night to Thursday night (I'm fasting this year.) I've posted the chaperone list for that time period (along with their duties.)

Gotta go. Keigo's found out that Emda's not as "merry" as he first thought and I have to get a spear-wielder to put down the spear in a non-harmful way (aka not in someone's body.)

The cattery's expanding (unfortunately) due to "foreclosure :kitty:s" (there are several "foreclosure dogs" that would like to be taken in, too, if anybody's interested.) Chii and several of the :kitty: delegation are getting the new :kitty:s aclimated as is Nekoyashiki (it's a good thing he doesn't seem to require sleep.) I just need to call in a new order to my :kitty: food supplier (and request another semi to help deliver.)

I've got more "guests" of the bipedal sort, too. *primal scream that I, Brian can hear without assistance* I have to find a JSL (Japanese Sign Language) interpreter for one of the recent arrivals as well as get the entire group situated somehow into either school or a job. I should be proficient in this by now.

The lawyer passed his bar exam here and is helping bring in some extra funds legally (unlike some that are just this side of yakuza [and some aren't. ;)]) Ah, well. Could be worse, I guess.

Oops, gotta go. One of my neighbors has ticked Nekoyashiki off, and it looks like he's going to use onmyoudou on the offender (something about attacking some of the new :kitty:s.)

We had fun on campus Thursday (here's a video of one of the songs that was played [albeit done by the original group, ELO]: YouTube - ELO-All Over The World (please turn off your monitors during the video and just enjoy the music [the movie is definitely a "pan" and the costumes might be offensive to some of you, but you can hear the song much better].)

It was (to use a favorite word of my Russian Studies professor) craziness with three drummers, three basses, two (or was it three) keyboard players, six or seven electric guitars, three or four violins, a cellist, a clarinetist, a trumpet player, over 400 participants (some of them faculty and students of the university) but the campus police didn't bother us (we pretty much had built-in security with all the shinigami, "claymores", "demons"/"monsters", martial arts masters, etc.)

Some of the campus "unwanteds" tried to crash the shindig were escorted to the station (a couple were carried, one for trying to pick up the young clarinet player and several not-so-tiny/weak, very overprotective gentlemen let him know he was not wanted [a la bladepoint or heavy weaponry] and the other tried to pick up Kanou's "friend" and um, the less said about that, the better.) We left Wren in charge of the clarinetist (pulse cannons and laser cannons do too much property damage, and she was shaking.) I think he took her on an impromptu helicopter ride over Lake Michigan, avoiding commercial aircraft. :D

The :kitty:s stayed behind due to the size of the crowd, but they got extra attention when we finally got home. I believe they got the better of the deal here.

Oh, well. I'm heading to bed (I went to a powwow earlier today and I participated in the intertribal dance, so I'm a bit tired.)

I'm helping get the group ready for the Halloween "party" season around here, although the shinigami and the "demons"/"monsters" don't have to do much (Hanatarou and Mikan have been getting more candy than they know what to do with [I'm stashing 90 percent of their take-home stuff in the freezer out of sight of the adults with incurable addictions to sweets] and at least one of the adults has suffered the repercussions of attempted candy theft [they've gotten habanero-laced treats instead {yeah, I'm a "rhymes-with-witch" here}.])

The snow spirits have been getting a little more lively since the temperature's only going into the mid fifties F.(we had some snow last night, but it was gone this morning.) One of them has taken a liking to pumpkin pie ice cream while another scarfs peppermint ice cream (I swear they're insane.) The :kitty:s, on the other hand, are slowing down. Ah, well. *shrug*

Gotta go. I'm helping coordinate a combination swimming/post-Halloween party for the majority of my "guests" while the snow spirits are making arrangements to go ice skating at the Olympic skating rink (I hope they at least wear scarves as well as fall/winter clothes instead of shorts, halters and summerweight clothes.)

I was lucky this time: only one "newbie". He was roughed up when he arrived, plus a couple of bullet wounds. He's okay (good thing I have the doctors here, eh?) I found out his name's Yoh and some of the :kitty:s have been sneaking into his recovery room. A dilute tabby has taken a liking to him, refusing to leave the room except to use the :kitty: facilities (even eating her dinner in a discrete corner so he wouldn't accidentally step in the bowl.) He uses her to exercise his hands and as a sounding board/psychotherapist and she doesn't seem to mind, despite the fact he calls her by a different name than any she actually has (her human name is Cloud Walker, yet he calls her Softened Tiger or something like that [my Japanese is weak and my Chinese is even weaker].) Excuse me. . .

Yoh needs something? Ah, it's his dinner time. Thank you for reminding me. I wonder if he'll eat beef satay or if I should offer him buffalo stir fry. . . Perhaps I'll give him a bowl of vegetarian minestrone to stall him until I can ask him.

Ah, I'm back. The rest of the gang are off doing laundry (taking up the entire laundromat once a week, as you can imagine) or doing other chores. We're getting to be rather infamous in the neighborhood due to all of the people here, but they refuse to leave. Twenty turkeys and fifteen deer have been delivered to my friend America's mother's house (there's no bloody way I can get all that in my freezer!) and Emda's helping butcher all of the meat (we've gotta "feed the troops" over American Thanksgiving, y'know, and Emda's the best at skinning deer and butchering almost everything in our group, plus he doesn't mind being around three rather curious :kitty:s.)

Ah, gotta go. Yoh has requested something I need to ask him the recipe for, which is Cha Pao Tsu (whatever the fook that is.) I might make red cooked buffalo ribs or something like that.

Phyllis Sidhe_Uaine

An update on Yoh: he informed me that he'll eat almost anything so I'll introduce him to venison "tacos" (using Navajo fry bread for the "shell" instead of tortillas.)

He's somewhat of a heartbreaker with the lingering sadness in his eyes (he told me that he was shot by the person he confessed his love to [it's a good thing I can't get my hands on the person that did that. :p]) I've called a friend of mine to have a few sessions with Yoh, perhaps weaning him to group sessions later.

Ah, well. I thought I'd get that off my not-so-ample chest.

Phyllis Sidhe_Uaine

Ah, I thought you guys might like a final tally from the Thanksgiving chow-down (95 turkeys, 25 deer, 10 industrial-size tins of vegetarian Peking duck, 1/2 ton of potatoes, 1/2 truckload of turkey and giblets :kitty: food [gave several ferals a treat], I-lost-count-how-much Navajo fry bread and cornbread, 75 pumpkin cheesecakes, 75 pecan pies, don't even ask how much cranberry sauce or vegetables gave their lives to the feast. . . .)

Several of my guests have signed up for the Polar Bear Plunge (it is something where normally sane people go swimming on New Years Day in Lake Michigan [ ], oftentimes for one charity or another.) Those who do it successfully become members of this one club here in Wisconsin, although, I believe there are Polar Bear clubs elsewhere in the US. Ah, well, they'll learn (except the snow spirits who will just love the cold.)

We also went to the local fete, the Holiday Folk Fair (got some dancing and a lot of eating in.) Yoh was rather popular with the Chinese, even though he's actually Japanese (I think.) He speaks two dialects fluently (yes, I was green with envy) and he picked up a few telephone numbers and something for his :kitty: roommate (a little toy that they can both play with.) A few drunks found out the hard way to leave him alone (they found themselves waking up in a jail cell with definite hangovers and a few discrete bruises.) I guess that's what one can get for pestering Chinese or Japanese underworld.

Ah, well. I'll let everybody go now. :)

Phyllis Sidhe_Uaine

Ukitake got back from Long Island (he's lucky that Wren picked him up because the cold isn't good for his lungs.) He's quite angry about the situation that "called" him there (a man was trampled to death at a local store that belongs to a national retail chain.) He's using words they don't teach you in any semester Japanese (some of you understand what I mean, don't you?) He's even angrier than he was when the "gatecrashers" tried something with Shouko (the clarinet player) which I thought was impossible. Neither the :kitty:s nor his subordinants will even go near him right now. Perhaps I should slip something into his tea to get him to relax. . . .

Keigo's complaining again about the "sneak attacks" courtesy of the :kitty:s (he should know better than to try and sneak past them.) Gotta get the Betadine.

Phyllis Sidhe_Uaine

Ah, snowstorms. A way to loosen up frayed tempers (aka snowball battle.) Most of the :kitty:s are content to stay inside (the Siberians and Norwegian Forests the exceptions) but those who are going out are just a quick jaunt outside then rushing back inside for delicious food and warm beds.

There have been several requests from the snow spirits to let them go have a "celebration" of their "element" (sleds, toboggans, skis, etc.) but the best places for those items around here aren't safe. In fact, they're posted as restricted, so I've been splitting them into two teams for a prolonged snow war (forts and all.) I feel sorry for everybody who gets caught between them. A huge supply of white flags are waiting for everybody else (as well as mulled cider, hot chocolate, tea and coffee [coffee courtesy of my suppliers since I don't drink the stuff.]) Later we're making cookies and pies. :D Hey, it keeps them warm and semi-out-of-trouble. ;) :D

Yoh has been really helpful now that he's gotten in the swing of things (he's designated himself as the security guard for those who don't have one, especially the clarinet player.) The twins are grateful for that (they can focus on protecting their boss's "friend".)

Uh oh. Out and out skirmish. Gotta go.

Phyllis Sidhe_Uaine

The snow spirits are ecstatic (winter storm warning with expected snowfall of at least 7" [crazy spirits].) The :kitty:s are staying in (smarter than the rest of us) and are being treated to classical and jazz concerts (totally impromptu, I swear!) The Baroque cello is a favorite of theirs, especially in Eine Kleine Nachtmuzik and Stille Nacht, as well as the Pink Panther theme on the piano and clarinet (you should see their tails. *shakes head)

Yoh's reading to his personal therapy :kitty: books in Chinese (says that it'll keep him in practice [whatever floats his boat, I guess].) I finished up something he seems to enjoy: Chinese fish balls. (Get your mind out of the gutter!) A friend of my friends Tyler and America delivered the stuff when she heard that there was a Chinese speaker staying with me and she just had to meet him. Therefore, seven large packages of freshly made fish balls and six large boxes of Chinese books were her excuse for the visit. I gave her steamed buns, half with red bean paste, the other half with finely chopped Chinese vegetables as well as spring rolls that just need to be fried. Next time we're going to give her latkes. :D

Gotta go. Several of the :kitty:s are nosing around the fish balls (gotta protect Yoh's stash.)

Phyllis Sidhe_Uaine

Everybody's busy with the New Year's celebrations (several kilos of fish have given their lives for the feast, as have several kilos of hopping john and spinach.) Yoh's quietly celebrating with roommate, sharing a Fishy Feast festival (Yoh's freshly cooked, the :kitty: a bowl of Fishy Feast :kitty: food), a shy smile sliding onto the human's face as he sneaks a morsel of his fillet into her bowl and several surreptitious scratches between the ears.

The performers are all taking turns entertaining "the troops", the puppeteer mingling between his sets (Yuki's playing for the stage show since he's somewhat familiar with the music [coming from a family with a long history of performing traditional Noh].)

I have been adding some sean nos songs that I have as a change of pace from all of the Japanese and English (not that I have anything against them, but, well, cultural diversity, y'know. . . .) Too bad I don't have any klezmer music (especially the stuff from Itzhak Perlman's In the Fiddler's House.) *sigh* Ah, well.

Gotta go. Gate crashers, and several weapons are being drawn/powered up.

Several more guests, but two of note (one human, the other feline.) Takasu (the human) seems a bit disoriented while Shirayuki (aka the :kitty:, aka Princess) is taking it a bit more in stride, but I guess that's what happens when one enters in the midst of sparring (I don't know if it was a claymore, a spear or the shuriken that flew just by his nose and embedded halfway into the wall that was the cause.) The way he choked out "Princess" spoke volumes (Keigo, with his his ability to avoid getting hit by the same attack twice, was rather helpful in escorting the group across the "sparring yard".) The newcomers are currently digesting their dinners and some are sleeping.

Speaking of Keigo, he has issued a challenge/threat: if none of the previous posters to this thread posts something before the next installment, the next installment will be from him.

Chii has issued an even stronger challenge: if nobody posts (whether a previous poster or a newbie) she's posting (let's just say, :kitty: at the keyboard!)

I saw the apartment next to mine that's vacant (again.) Some of my "guests" called it to my attention (long strings of Japanese can do that, y'know) and I couldn't believe how bad it is! Crayon and permanent marker markings all over the walls, magazine pictures glued onto doors, just a generally trashed studio (and the manager had worked on cleaning for about a week!) Several of my guys are helping out (and she's grateful for that!) but they are keeping quiet about where they're staying (luckily!) Excuse me. . .

Ah, there's a food call? Let them know it's on its way, okay? Chopsticks, too. Okay. I'll send one of the girls over with it as well as a few of the :kitty:s.

I can't believe how bad it is. They started working today at about 10 this morning and they're still cleaning at 1634! I think I'll tuck some drinks in the care package. :D Gotta go. Food call for "the troops".

Phyllis Sidhe_Uaine

Just got the news that another of my neighbors is getting evicted (probably sent to a hospital or something like that) because he's a danger to himself and to others. The :kitty:s are quietly celebrating (I feel they're going to get rather noisy once he's gone. :D)

Anyways, the trashed apartment's being worked on (still) and quite a few of my guests are assisting (sometimes good food can be used as a bribe to be useful. :D) Today's bribe is really cheesy bread (Italian bread dough with shredded cheese kneaded throughout, rolled up "jelly-roll" style with slices of provolone) and "Italian" sloppy joes "meat" and sliced caramelized onions to make sandwiches. I figure it won't take too long to throw together a sandwich plus they (the sandwiches) wouldn't take the workers away from what they have to do for more than a couple of minutes. Economical on two fronts!

Oh, before I forget: Chii's asking for another visit from juantoo3. She misses him. Hint, hint. :D

Gotta go. Just received a message that I need to do more kitchen duty.

Phyllis Sidhe_Uaine

I'm just the silent stranger. inserting my opinons here and their doing whatever i can to help... Call me Kwai Chang Caine . LOL

*looks out the window*

Ah, you caught me. I'm just watching the crazy snow spirits playing outside (wind chills are -30 F. here in Milwaukee [I'm staying the hello-and-how-do-you-do inside, thankyouverymuch!]) The kitsune and werewolves are curled up in the warmest part of the complex, just getting up to eat and use "the facilities".

Yoh is really popular with many of the female neighbors as well as the manager (in spite of. . .) as is his :kitty:. He's getting attention from even the shiest :kitty:s in the colony (I'd hate him if he wasn't so adorable in the "I'm lost in this place so can you help me?" way.)

Gotta go. Yoh's in trouble (mobbed by neighbors.)
