Fictionalize Yourself

Takasu and Yoh are getting along rather well (the former has helped with buying a rather nice futon at a relatively inexpensive price [it's a good thing he was the boss of a furniture store/interior design company].) I don't know how Yoh's reciprocating, but I'm pretty sure he is. They both have avoided getting caught up in the katas/weapons practice, but I think Yoh's itching to go target shooting.

Everybody who is enrolled in school has signed up for classes and a few of the newer people have either applied for school or for a job (the "veterans" have assisted as much as the could.) I'm getting good at delegating here (now, to figure out how to delegate food supplies. . . .) Ah, well. Some day (and they'll all be back where they belong, I guess. *shrug*)

Oh, looks like a couple of my guests want something to eat. Excuse me.

One bowl of Oatey Ohs and one bowl of Fishy Feast? Coming right up.

Gotta go. Talk to you soon.

I'm back from the exercise in futility, aka explaining the importance of this inauguration to my guests in ways that they could understand. What made it even more difficult is the "blunders" during the Oath of Office.

A few of the shinigami waited to be dispatched when Senator Kennedy suffered his seizure (they quickly stood down when everything cleared up uneventfully.)

A few of my guests felt sorry for Quahom1 and the rest of the IO Maryland delegation (there were over one million people who attended the celebration) since they know we can't use "alternate means of getting from Point A to Point B" (like above the trees/on top of power poles or through wormholes.)

Gotta go again. More questions have been posed. *shakes head* Gotta get the hard stuff.

Phyllis Sidhe_Uaine

Ah, the pleasures of armed guests.

Last night, the upstairs neighbor was getting a bit loud (as usual) and several of my guys decided to - um - "remedy" the situation (guns, knives, swords, etc.) One of the other neighbors called the cops (good thing Wren wasn't there since he would've had one of his heavy weapons primed) and the men in blue were greeted by my closest western neighbors as well as a couple of the vampires (yes, some of my guests are vampires.) I've also found that several of my newer guests like The House at Pooh Corner (it's one of the songs I use as a lullaby for Yuki's son.)

Tomorrow, I have to go downtown to explain the "fanged ones" (please pray for me.) At least school starts in earnest, so I'm copesetic. I just hope Keigo keeps out of trouble (otherwise, I'm taking him with me on campus [philosophy class as well as Russian studies].)

Gotta go. A detective's knocking on my door.

Phyllis Sidhe_Uaine

At least he was congenial (so many ladies who aren't "discretely covered" and one's armed to the teeth.) Otherwise, I might've been visited by Vice. :D

Phyllis Sidhe_Uaine

We had an impromptu concert (I guess Ikanaide can be a bit inspiring.)

Please let me explain. I sometimes sing along with songs that I truly enjoy (much to everybody's chagrin, especially since I'm not that talented when it comes to singing.) Well, Kanazawa-sensei (who has a delicious tenor) joined in, infusing an even deeper sadness into the song. Well, things just went snowballing from there. Kanazawa has offered to train Yoh a bit (his low baratone/high bass is almost better than the highest quality signature chocolates. ;)) Now Sado won't be alone "in the basement".

Anyways, the manager got an angry telephone call from one of the neighbors, and, when she got here, was treated to several different practice sessions/lessons. Funny thing was, she didn't seem to mind any of the "noise" (especially the Cantonese love song that Yoh was trying to teach/learn [did I mention that his voice is smoother than the highest quality Scotch/coffee/cream/etc.?]) Kanazawa-sensei and his assistant, Ousaki-senpai, are working to transcribe the songs we performed today for our summer "concert series"/block parties. Anyways, she's going to give the complaintant a tongue-lashing that he won't soon forget (he complains about "the noise" several times a day, yet doesn't care one iota that he's just as noisy, if not moreso.)

Gotta go. Several :kitty:s are demanding food, including their "ringleader", Chii.

We have a full staff of "live-in" vets (as in veterinarians) now. Some of the :kitty:s don't like that fact, but I guess it could be worse (at least most of them are personable.) They also brought several kids with them (much to Sakon's and Ukon's delight, since they can do some of their old routines on a new audience.) Strangely enough, one of the vets was able to tell that there was really only one speaker, but two "voices".

Some of the "guests" (do I still call them guests since they've been here so long?) are helping search for a young student from the university I attend. I guess her disappearance was why they were going in and out quietly and I've been "partnered" every day I go to school. Let me tell you, it's really difficult to go from Point A to Point B with either Kenpachi or Komamura (both are rather large and otherwise noticeable [Komamura is fox-faced {literally} and Kenpachi is, um, two interns short of a scandal]).

Update for the "missing" student: she was hanging out with friends (didn't know she was reported missing). I'm still under escort, though (orders of Yamamoto-Genryusai [aka Old Man]).

Gotta go. The vets are being inundated with :kitty:s and the dog's hungry, too (I need to order dog kibble).

Phyllis Sidhe_Uaine

Yamamoto-Genryusai clouted a couple of the vets this morning (they should be coming around soon) because they broke a couple of the unwritten rules. In the case of Ryoutou, it's a good thing neither the twins nor Yoh caught him (he's still alive, therefore neither the twins nor Yoh caught him).

The snow spirits enjoyed today (winter storm dumped around 9 inches) and they got red jackets from the vets which they broke in today. The rest of us stayed in (Tesshou entertained the kids this time as well as Ukon). A choice of grilled cheese sandwiches or matzo pizzas were the entrees of the day (making the pizzas were fun for everyone participating). Apple bars were the treats (one topped with rich caramel, the other Dutched). Tesshou grabbed two of each (he's gonna be expensive. . . .)

We also picked up more :kitty:s (storms usually bring them here). Nekoyashiki and "friends" are assisting the vets with the mass checkups and warming up the poor :kitty:s.

I'll let you guys go while I help Old Man Yamamoto-Genryusai with his lecture so he doesn't clout the miscreants again. Although we have a few physicians, we don't need them treating caved-in skulls due to stupidity.

The vets met with one of my neighbors (Ryoutou threatened him with being an assistant during a camel's exam). I wish to be a fly on the wall during that situation. Tesshou's pooch got a 50# bag of beefy stew dog food and a smoked buffalo bone to play with. He was so puppylike when presented with it.

Anyways, I have a feeling in the pit of my stomach that I'm going to have more guests showing up soon (can't quite place why, but I do).

Gotta go make room for the newbies.

Phyllis Sidhe_Uaine

The old man clouted a few people (albeit not anybody within my group of "guests" this time.) You see, a couple of young children were left in separate day care vans last Friday, one overnight. Needless to say, he was  at such stupidity.

Several others followed suit (I don't think Wren held back with his backhand [I believe that's going to hurt for a while] and Yoh, along with the twins, got rather creative.) Ukon was rather verbally expressive with his displeasure, his arms flying all over the place while still being attached.

Two good things, though, are that the weather wasn't that warm and that both children were found relatively safe. Oh, another thing: both day care centers are going to get demerits for this stunt, at the very least. Will keep you up to date on this situation, if possible.

Ah, the paneer's ready to use. Gotta start on the curry for tonight's feast.

Phyllis Sidhe_Uaine

Awoke to a huge commotion today. It seems that there was a concert just announced for the local music festival Summerfest that has quite a number of the guys excited: Chicago and Earth, Wind and Fire are scheduled together ($20 a pop for the "cheap seats") and most of the gang are rarin' to go (the choreographers are working on routines as I type.)

Ah, I have a feeling that the "newbies" are going to be introduced to the wonders of the veterans' "organized chaos" ("block" parties) very soon. Sado's friends from campus dropped by when they heard that we're setting up our tentative schedule and Ryotou has been clouted a few times with guitar cases (no, the guitars are all okay, the vet - I don't know yet.)

Gotta go. One of the choreographers has asked me to find tunes from both groups to "download".

Phyllis Sidhe_Uaine

Yoh has a following, and this time it's not because of his looks. He sang to a little girl on campus to calm her down (her parents just walked away without leaving somebody to look after her [I wanted to kick their arses since she could've vanished ] so he volunteered.) He sang Friend (here's the song for anybody who wishes to hear it: YouTube - ???? Tamaki Koji - Friend (Sad)) in the bass clef (he'll never reach tenor in this lifetime, I'm afraid.) Kanazawa softly joined in, but the "spotlight" was on Yoh. I'm treating him to some dim sum (my friend America's friend dropped off another "care package" and stayed a while to converse with both Yoh and his :kitty:.) Steamed buns, fish balls, so many other dishes that I just can't name. . . . Ah, well. Heat 'n eat. I'm also throwing in a Korean dish, Korean noodles with vegetables.

Sakon gave the parents h-e-double hockey sticks, quietly as Sakon, rather rowdily as Ukon (boy, did Ukon go wild in his rant, arms flying all over the place!) Good thing the girl didn't wake up during "The Lecture". Yoh, on the other hand, just gave them a look that roughly said, "There had better not be a next time. Otherwise, I'm going to find you, and you're not going to like it!" One look is worth a thousand words in his case. He related the incident to Ayase, who (because Kanou, his "friend" and "master", threatened him) related what upset him. Now there's also the trio (Kanou and the twins) "on the case" as well as everybody who heard about what happened. I have a sneaking suspicion that the entire campus is now going to have a huge unofficial security force. Unlike the "official" security force, the "unofficial" security force will be carrying non-regulation guns, knives, swords, heavy weaponry, bows, shuriken, other kobudo and ninjutsu weapons. . . .

Chii spent much of the afternoon using her inate charm on Ayase. Oh, well. If she's going to choose a new victim, who am I to stop her? Gotta go before he overfeeds her.

We're going to have a quicky block party today (the weather's conducive to a rather nice party, plus it's Spring Break.) It's expected to be somewhere between 70 and 73 F. so everybody's getting into the spirit. We're having it on campus for those who couldn't afford to go anywhere (plus it's too late to set up one here.) We're cooking (in more ways than one [not in that way!]) and having lots of music and dancing, including a disco set, some dances were choreographed by the all-male talent agency (can't wait to see that!)

To make things easier transportation-wise, we're going in "stages" as not to crowd the busses (for those who aren't going by Wren or mecha.) Several of the :kitty:s are also coming, but they aren't going to be as prominent as they are here. Quick mingling and keeping things relatively mellow will be their duties.

Gotta go. Gotta help get things set up.

A Boy Who Finds the Philosopher's Stone

Try and imagine how you would feel if you were a ten year old boy who just did not understand about diaries. "You will pay!" she whispered to her pale, now frightened baby brother. Angry tears rolling, she let them drip into her unfinished soup and onto her plate. The look on her face made him horrified at what he had done, knew she would never forgive him for giving her diary to Jake. Knew what was in it, had read it, though he could not himself understand what he had read. Big Jake had laughed, so he had laughed. Now he knew he was sorry he had ever touched the book. All of this happened because he had unconsciously wanted some attention from his big sister, and now he had it. Such irony in life! He knew she could not retaliate yet, because their mom was just in the next room and would hear. Actually if he had truly understood the situation, he would have known that she would do absolutely nothing. She was too weakened, her embarrassment tragically beyond what should be possible in life for girls, yet is. All he could think was that in order to get out of the kitchen quickly, his mother had said he must finish the soup. The horrible soup was suddenly delicious, and rapidly eating it he gratuitously thanked his mother, got the brownie point for being thankful, and locked himself safely behind solid wood. I have always wished to remain ten years old. It is a selfish wish, an honest wish. Very few people know that I have been granted my wish...

You have doubtless heard the fake sounding, ridiculous medieval legend that there is a stone a man can hold in his hand and transmute any material into any other. The stone actually started as just a metaphor for something else, something more political and religious; but lots of people, such as the alchemists, heard the phrase and took it very seriously - very literally. It is because somehow the human heart seizes upon the words 'Philosopher's Stone', which represents something already within mankind - something real, but that is all I will say. Despite what any text or parent or authority says, our mystical heart loves the philosopher's stone eternally and knows its truth. Out of that heart come the Alchemists, who invent Chemistry, and who burn the centuries laboring over stinking fires, tasting toxic chemicals. (Yes, seriously, they actually taste the chemicals.) Some seek gold, others eternal life, some want peace on earth and goodwill. They are not gone, either. Even now and despite the illusion of our dispassionate new gods of Science, the alchemical mystic lives on in each and every Chemist, every Physicist, every Astronomer! The Philosopher's stone can never be removed from the heart, although I tell you it can be used. Once the magic words are heard, until the stone is found one can never give up on looking for it; because the stone itself is the only thing than can ever remove the burning to find it. Still it seems strange how many people are looking for it, or that I found it. I wish I could tell those stupid Scientists (actually they are very smart) where it is, but I am afraid of what they might do to me if I do. They might find out the secret of my age and take me as a scientific specimen, like some kind of freaky alien. I hate aliens. Well, not really. Any-how I found a way to manipulate the Philosopher's Stone, is what I'm telling you. I cannot say I am very old, because I am still ten years old. It isn't just that I don't age. That would not be enough, because if time passed for me I would age. The horrible thing is that for me time no longer passes at all, and I really am ten. Always. Really I am stuck at ten years of age now. It is just too difficult to explain, so I will have to leave it at that and let you know it in your heart.

Now you know how I feel, and I still to this day cannot understand about diaries. So of course the story goes that I ran away from home, and I probably would have gone back after a few miles if some tragedy had not struck, blah, blah, blah -- typical crybaby romantic lassie-come-home story. But basically I didn't ever go home at all, and I never faced my sister's rage which was good I guess but still not-so-good. Another thing about being ten is I still do not care what English teachers say, and if i want to start a sentence with 'But' I do. I also laugh because it is a funny word, but. (You know, with another 'T' ?) The main thing though is I can never go home, because I don't grow up like other kids. That's all.

Thought you guys might want to hear a recap about the party we threw on campus.

There were more students than expected (I guess the recession really hit them hard.) Wren set up a webcam/phone setup that was real popular (since it let family "back home" see for themselves how the students [and some of the faculty and staff] are faring.) He also set up a recording device if the caller wanted to keep a copy.

Yoh chatted with several of the Chinese and Japanese students (they came up to him, he didn't approach them.) I guess his :kitty: was somewhat welcome as she ignored practically everybody equally. Quite a number of single students from both groups asked if he'd be interested in going out with them, but he declined (such a gentleman!) The little girl he sang to in the Union was there, too (not her parents, though, which got several of the "unofficial" security force out [found them bar-hopping, too drunk to keep an eye on their offspring and too stupid to get a sitter]. Boy were they seeing red on a green day.) Ayase played with the girl for a bit while Yoh spoke to police. Kanou and the twins kept an eye on both during that stint.

Sakon and Ukon performed throughout the party (poor Sakon was hit on by several singles, too.) At least there weren't any murders (not that there weren't any temptations [see paragraph just above].)

A new "attraction" was free vet services for any non-human attendees (Ryoutou was stuck with several snakes and five tortoises [said he was grateful that there weren't any camels].) Dog was helpful in calming several of the canines (earned his beefy stew kibble.) Wren was used as emergency transport a few times, but he didn't mind much.

The bands and the dancers had/caused lots of fun, too. The police were glad that we were a "dry" alternative for those who would've spent the day either alone or bar-hopping from 8 am to closing. Now we've got permits (just have to pop into the station about two and a half hours prior to our stint and we're good to go.)

Kanou caught someone trying to cheat several of the guests with a shell game and cleaned that kid out (never try to cheat somebody who grew up learning/mastering gambling and is a professional loanshark.) The kids who lost to the hustler got their money back and the hustler got a trip to jail to think things over (especially what Kanou and the twins told him.)

I'll let you guys go since I'm taking up so much bandwidth.

Phyllis Sidhe_Uaine

A little peace and quiet right now, so I thought I'd spread a little more news from this front.

I found out why there was a bit of commotion last Sunday/Monday in the shinigami camp. Another student died on campus (this time, it was in one of the dorms.) The ME found both alcohol and a prescription opiate in his blood (stupid kid.) He was 19. He was the second student this school year to die from a combination of alcohol and prescription drugs. If I ever find myself in a situation that might tempt me to mix the two, I'm going to take a break from the "outside world" and check myself into a hospital.

Yoh found me putting away three yartzeit candles and asked me about them. I explained that, because my parents are both gone, I "need" to light the candles in their memory, one for tonight (my mother died the shabbos before Passover about five years ago) and two for the last night of Passover (for both mom and dad.) I think he picked up a few for himself, but I'm not sure. *shrug*

The neighbor from next door is gone (the one that ticked off Yuki and quite a few others several times.) Eviction! Danger to himself and to others. I hope the next one will be much quieter (and safer.)

Gotta go. Things are stirring right now.

Ah, the logistics of another Passover. This time, I'm serving Chinese fish balls (using a modified recipe) plus a new set of "guests". One of the new people whets blades so well that he is considered a master sharpener (even though he isn't even in his 20s) and his father and grandfather are both master swordsmiths. The sharpener has been caught talking to what most of us would consider "empty air" or to himself, but several of the shinigami who are in tune with their weapons have said that the young man has been talking with their swords' spirits. O-kay. I won't argue with them.

I have given all of the guests permission to pig out tomorrow (everything that isn't allowed during Passover is going down their gullets) and I'm also getting some of them to help transport the stuff we'll need for tomorrow night/the rest of the holiday. I'm also slightly modifying the seder due to the fact that some of my "sojourners" remember the Red Sea thing. *debates between asprin and liquor* Ah, well.

Yoh has volunteered to help with the fish balls since he seems rather fond of the ones he gets in his "care packages" and he doesn't want to be a burden (which he definitely isn't!) :kitty:s are going to stand watch just in case, also. :D

The young boy who is going to help with the ritual dinner (his family's going to get a free meal out of it, too) is going to be here tomorrow afternoon practicing his part. The family's bringing specially made "books" in several different languages so that everybody can follow along and the eldest daughter's helping me with the ewers and basins that will be on every table.

Gotta go. It looks like the pig out has started a bit early and the culprits are the vets. *rolls up sleeves*

Phyllis Sidhe_Uaine

*looks up from the Kosher for Passover painkiller*

There was another pig-out for my "guests" (this time it was an Easter feast.) Several of the guys were popular during the Easter egg hunts (several of the guys got phone numbers of underage girls, which they politely discarded after making sure nobody else could read them, and some underage boys tried some "funny stuff" with several of the gals [one boy found himself pinned to a tree by several of our ninja's thrown weapons].)

We had modified quesadillas when we got home (one needs to be creative during this week) and several gallons of orange juice. Yoh also shared some tuna with his "roommate" (which she didn't mind at all.) He's beginning to really come out of his shell, but still relies on his :kitty: companion (which is kind of cute if you ask me.)

My friends are keeping the Easter candy until Saturday when they'll deliver it a little at a time (to make sure that nobody gorges until they resemble a modified :p [aka green].) I saw several peanut butter, caramel, creme, and other types of chocolates as well as jelly bird eggs and candy-coated peanut butter/malted milk candy eggs, too, in the stash. Ah, I think I know what's going to be used to return to the normal diet here in the apartment's community.

Gotta go. One of the neighbors has his stereo too loud and both Wren and Nova are looking at each other conspiratorally.

Phyllis Sidhe_Uaine

Swimsuit season (aka "riot season".) *eyes pain killers*

Several of the guys caused a small riot due to their "popularity" with the members of the female hetero-identified population (and some of the male non-hetero-identified population.) And this was in a store they were trying on swimwear for this year! :)eek:) It's a good thing that they decided against wearing fundoshi or "Speedos", but. . . *eyes the pain killers again* At least Yoh acted the calmest during his short incarceration. His :kitty: roommate wasn't happy about it, though (typical :kitty:.)

Some of the girls also went to get swimwear, but didn't cause as much trouble. They picked up some ice cream that was on sale while waiting for the guys as well as several boxes of Pocky. They did an impromptu fashion show of their purchases when they got home (I'll wait for the guys to show what they decided on until everything's settled.)

Gotta go. Another neighbor/guest confrontation.

Phyllis Sidhe_Uaine

*sigh*

Aine left. I guess she went back to her "reality" sometime during her stint on "suicide watch" (I didn't ask why she went in-patient due to the confidentiality stuff.) The rest of them are still here, though. I feel a bit sorry for Sakuya, though since his "squeeze" is gone.

We're having "hot meals" today since the temperature dropped more than 30 degrees F. in less than 8 hours, and Sakuya's not being left alone at all :)kitty:s are keeping their eyes on him during his "private time" [it's a helluva lot easier than trying to figure a schedule of who's watching him while he uses the bathroom].) I mean, just because some of the guys are familiar with not having any privacy at all, like Yoh (prison time does that to you) doesn't mean that it would be fair to impose that on someone else.

We have more "guests" who arrived last night (a private investigation firm, an Italian cruise ship captan and a yakuza boss.) The high school student/private investigator is getting some "home schooling" due to the fact that it's so late in the school year. Luckily he's much calmer/easier to deal with than Keigo (Keigo needs sedatives!) plus he's quite intelligent. I might sign him up for a couple of placement tests later, plus a summer school class or two (hell, I might try signing him up for a stint on the schooner that was built here in Milwaukee for the credit/hours. *shrug*)

Oops, gotta go. Smells like Orihime decided to "experiment" again and I don't want to accidently poison the newbies or Sakuya.

Orihime, vanilla, oranges, green onions and garlic don't go in the same dish!
