Fictionalize Yourself

A few more guests arrived (I DON'T HAVE THE BLOODY ROOOOOOOOOOOM) and are lending a hand or two (better than a foot, I guess.) Alas, none of the other guests will leave. Excuse me for a moment...

Guys, please leave Rune alone for now, okay? He was up all night and he's tired. No, the recent fosterlings are okay with him. Retsu, would you...? Thank you.

Anyhow, it could be worse (seven of the most recent visitors have willingly relocated to my friends' apartment [thank the PtBs.]) They don't have that much room, either, but several of the surrounding apartments are vacant (graduation/summer) so the newbies who've opted for the other apartments are using them. I wonder if it's because of the five restaurants within a four block radius (one right across the street that's open 24/7) that influenced the decision. *shrug* Excuse me again...

Clare, please put away your sword. He's not a demon, just very annoying. Killing him is frowned upon here. I'll call my friends and see if there's another vacant apartment for you, okay? You'll have quiet and I won't have a visit from the police. Okay. :)

Gotta go and make arrangements. Sorry. Chat later.

A couple of my guests worked recently (sent six souls along [a plane crash nearby] along with an elderly woman who perished after her house blew up [last I heard, it was because of a gas leak that ignited, destroying the house, killing the occupant, and damaging several houses around it.])

We're having a HUGE block party (instead of going to the local festival going on right now.) Sado struck up a tentative friendship with most of the group we saw last time, so they're all providing the music (along with a couple of DJs.) I'm busy "catering" the party (anybody want to help? And not just help eat the food?)

The :kitty: brigade has been busy, too, running messages and helping the healers (one of the :kitty:s has adopted Rune, sneaking into the observatory at school when the young man goes stargazing [you know :kitty:s...])

Excuse me for a minute...

What is it, Uryuu? *sigh* Okay, the store's open another hour and a half. You know the routine. Thanks.

I have to go, guys. *shakes head*

Unohana returned last night. Said something about Antares. She looked more upset than usual and she slept in the cattery instead of where she usually does. I'll leave her alone there.

I'm a stranger to this planet having originated in the Antares region. I don't remember much of home. We live as a collective there. My only memory of home is the sense of being surrounded by a viscous (for I know no other adequately descriptive word) golden light in the presence of other consciousnesses. And I have an urge within me to complete my mission and go home.

I came to this rock approximately 32645 years ago VOLUNTARILY, believe it or not! And first experience a culture similar to what you call "Atlantis". I've asked many times and although I hear the name in my head, I'm unable consciously to repeat it.

I was a shepherd boy with white skin, living on a small rocky island dotted with scrub brush. The ships came unexpectedly one day and I was removed for my own good (the top of my head prickles as I write this) to a dusty place that smelled funny.

As I remember, it seems as though the light was a darker, almost dingy yellow, but it may be the tinge of absent years. The landscape was punctuated by pyramid structures and I was given the task of helping the workers place and shape blocks. The labor was apparently difficult for them as they tugged the rough blocks from the riverbanks to the rising monolith ahead. As the heavy blocks were brought to the site several of us, positioned at various intervals, shaped and placed them using knowledge of which I may not speak.

My companions and I completed our task and the ships arrived again for the long-awaited return. For some reason, lost to this self, one had to remain behind to secure the "opening" and I volunteered. A decision which I would have many, many years to regret...

(more later)

Crap...40 years to remember what I am this time around. I'm sure my pals on the other side of the veil are getting a good chuckle over it. Then again, maybe 40 years is a short time in this endeavor, and maybe I have a prize awaiting me when I finally shed this skin. That would teach them to doubt my discernment abilities. I must of drawn the short straw to be incarnated again - I can't quite remember how all this works...something about being the catalyst for the next phase of evolution, or some such thing.

Ran out of fuel in Oklahoma, and wondering how a revolution of consciousness could possibly be initiated here - dull inhabitants, miserable humidity, and an undertow of dissolving personal will seeming to be taking over the whole planet...is this the end, or an altogether appropriate beginning...I'll have to get back to you with an answer to that. Perhaps I should request a writing column on this website "Comparative Religion" to further document my calling...who is this Brian chap anyways, and why do we always find ourselves gravitating to his little oasis in the vast internet void?

Another guest came with his "friend" (luckily they're rather personable and entertaining {sans swords.}) Tachibana Sakon and his "friend" Ukon performed last night and today, plus they regaled us with tales of their exploits (often tinged with a murder or two.) Unfortunately, none of my other guests have left (*bigcry*) Excuse me for a moment...

Tachibana-san, would you like something to eat or drink? My sincerest apologies for the meager offerings. Tea? I have green, white, chamomile, jasmine, lavender, rose hip, or I can mix up something special for you. It's no problem. You're getting a huge following here, especially after Ukon's last performance. Most of the people around here haven't ever seen traditional Japanese puppetry. *sigh* Yes, Ukon. Peasants.

I'm back. Life as a "caretaker" for all of my "guests" can be quite rewarding as well as quite stressful. All of the interactions, all of the breaking up of fights, all of the talking with the police to keep them from spending the night/weekend in jail, all of the friendships created, etc., etc., etc. Excuse me again...

Would you like some dorayaki after your vegetable curry? Please don't apologize. That's my job. Besides, it's no trouble at all. Several people were charmed by you performance, so you've definitely earned your meal. What was that, Ukon? Ah, the black cat in the audience was probably Ninja's Shadow. She reminds you of someone? Ah, the poor cat that was used as a murder weapon. Yes, I heard about that one. Ririsu, if I recall the poor unfortunate's name. Mmmm. Perhaps. Ah, go on and eat, Sakon-san. You'll be too busy to do anything but concentrate on Ukon's performance later, I think.

I'd better go, too. "The natives" are getting restless.

More guests. *insert Primal Scream* And, I have to find new accommodations for the ones that have been living in the apartment complex my friends live in. *le sigh* Someday, I hope my apartment ceases to be Grand Central Station (or Union Station.) Fortunately, I got them registered for school (a bit of assistance in getting some transcripts and IDs aided in the process.) Excuse me a moment...

Guys, it's too early to start making lunch. Why not take a walk along the beach? Or perhaps check the feral colonies to see how they're doing? You can get back in time to start cutting stuff. You want to try a couple of InLove's recipes, Rukia? I think she'd be thrilled to hear that.

I'm back. I hope I can check some of the BRPS posts before they get back (some bad roleplayers have been outed misrepresenting some of my guests (recently Byakuya and Uryuu were "taken advantage of" in such a way that they'd probably "go ballistic".) I think I'll log onto their MMORPG accounts for some leveling before they can get curious about BRPS. Either that or let them roam through the cattery for some :kitty: time.

Oops, gotta go. One of my neighbors has picked a fight with my berserkers.

More guests (unfortunately, one of them would stick out like a sore thumb [even more than many of the others].) Poor Wren has to stay hidden (his tech is rather obvious in some respects. ) Excuse me a moment...

Please leave Wren's antenna alone. I realize you think it's cute to do that to him, but to him it's like getting popped in the ear. He might retaliate, and neither of you would enjoy it, nor would my landlord or my neighbors, thankyouverymuch. Hey, Wren, want to meet the :kitty:s? Just sit by a wall and let them approach you, okay? They might be a bit skittish at first, but let them get used to your alien scent. We'll send your dinner down if you'd like.

I'm back. For those of you curious about what I mean concerning Wren, just find some screenshots of him from Phantasy Star III (he's one of the earlier cyborgs in the game.) Mieu can pass somewhat as a "normal" human, Wren can't. The only things she has to worry about are magnets and metal detectors (she's the other earlier cyborg.) Sakon has been entertaining the new guests while I've been at school, honing his craft (from what I understand, Wren complimented him.) *le sigh* Juggling all of these people, all of these :kitty:s and school is giving me a prime headache that only a twelve month vacation in some remote tropical area can cure, drink in hand.

I'd better go. One of my neighbors has cornered Wren and it looks like the laser cannon's being charged up here. Kenpachi, Nova, would you mind helping me out here? Thanks.

Sort of in the spirit of Phyllis's posts and breaking with the other storyline, such that it was, that I started way back when, I present the somewhat fictional memoir of Graham the Barbarian, or a fictionalization of my pre-pubescent years glued to Dungeons & Dragons books, updated with graphical blips courtesy of the world of MMORPGs. Oh, also certainly the opening page of my Terry Pratchett-esque novel, perhaps:

(ahem) :p

The giant beetle seemed to be made of robot parts and car tires. It scurried along the corridor, blocking exits as it moved, casting shadows, casting foul smells.

The dungeon itself smelled foul, its walls stained with decomposing filth deposited by gelatinous cubes and the undead. Piles of dung were stuffed in the dungeon’s most isolated pockets and cells. No one was ever going to make it down there, down to the eighteenth level. Even the largest trolls and Griffey Stiff Scale the Dragon had abandoned their lairs for warmer and more frequented levels.

Graham the Barbarian knew all this and he knew it well. He had just come from the nethermost tunnels of Blarth, which were the very abandoned catacombs that ran parallel to this horribly neglected dungeon. Dungeon! It was no longer worthy of the title, not since so many player characters had moved out of this campaign setting and on to updated rules. Graham himself had taken advantage of this scarcity of souls, or rather his player mind had, by slipping into this particular space-time continuum unnoticed, in media res as it were, and more than sufficiently experienced and powered up. Indeed, Graham was near omniscient and had within his backpack the Tome of Planes, the Atlas of Greater Gabradork, a series of maps—including of course the one to this very Dungeon of Dread—not to mention the Player’s Handbook and Dungeon Master’s Guide.

The Barbarian was intelligent beyond all good sense. He totally skewed the bell-curve for his profession with his maximized abilities. His muscles bulged, and would have broken his unearthly armor if it wasn’t so damn magical. A pouch at his side held crystal dice. He was both gamemaster and player, and this beetle was his own creation, his to dispose of, to harvest, as he may see fit. Pulling out one of his Scrolls of Ultimate Smite, he defied all the rules of Barbarism and read the magical script. The words that issued from his mouth are too keen and alien to be reproduced here, on mere paper. Their effect was that the beetle, even as it sped towards Graham, growing bigger and more dangerous by the second, disintegrated silently. A giant number, looking like this: (-10,572) floated lazily up from its splintering form and took some time to disappear.

“Yes!!” Graham’s dominant voice echoed throughout the entire dungeon, which also existed elsewhere on a kitchen table as a representative map on graph paper. Graham knew this, for it was he who, in a more vulnerable form, hunched over the paper studiously, calculating experience points.

GYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!

Sorry about this but, well I have even more guests to deal with. *whimper*

Most of the new guys are from a talent agency (a "mostly male" talent agency), but there's a handful of high school musicians with their sensei and their senpai along with a demon and his entourage (no major demonic stuff, just a bit of "Feed me" on the demon's part.) Oh, and a retired host and his girlfriend. At least I don't have to worry about feeding the demon (a puzzle or two is sufficient for now.) Alas, it's the feeding of several teenage males I have to deal with (luckily one of my friends asked his grandparents to "donate a deer" to "the cause" Thursday (they gave me six deer that everybody here's dressed.) Don't worry, My friends and her mother are donating their ovens for the venison (mine will be busy with practically everything else from roasted chestnuts to pumpkin cheesecakes.) Sakon is donating a performance for his dinner as are the musicians (a classical concert with a bit of ragtime mixed in.)

Most of the newbies are rather smitten by the :kitty:s (feelings seem reciprocated) but I have a sneaking suspicion that the rest will be won over by the ever-present "kawaii"-ness inherent to :kitty:dom. The female squeeing over the furred delegation...

Update later. I think I need a drink.

Hanataro's returned from Texas while Byakuya's staying behind for a bit ("Why did the captain go so fast? He knows I can't go as fast as he!") He has set up a temporary quarters in the cattery, small tins of :kitty: food ready to be opened at a moment's notice. He looked like he'd been crying, so I'll leave him be (just sending his meals down until further notice.) Rukia had an assignment in Luxemburg, Wisconsin and Renji had one in Kenosha ("We hate having assignments involving little children, especially children under five.")

Gotta go. We have a minor food crisis in the kitchen (as in "We're running low!" again.)

Phyllis Sidhe_Uaine

All of my guests are back and pretty much staying indoors (except for the snow spirits) due to a winter storm here (a mix of ice, sleet, freezing rain and snow.) D@mn it's crowded. The fact that I have more guests (I CAN'T AFFORD THE SPACE) isn't helping much, either. It's a good thing that I have a rather decent radio and decent speakers on my computer (we're having a makeshift party here with different tunes playing.) Ukon (Sakon) has been complaining a bit about how crowded it is (I told him I could send him across the hall to stay with that neighbor... *evil:D*) Excuse me for a moment...

Thank you for volunteering to go get food for everybody. I listed quite a lot of dairy and frozen food. Please remember to wear lightweight fall clothes instead of summerwear. I don't want to have to explain to the police and the hospital staff that you guys don't need "observation", okay?

Okay, I'm back. Many of my guests have been checking out some of the YouTube posts listed in both my favorites and in the YouTube thread (one of them noticed a posting that s/he thought Muslimwoman might be interested in watching, a video of a Muslim [I'll look for it later if you're interested MW.]) Excuse me again...

The group's name is Three Dog Night. Get your mind out of the gutter, you wolfman.

Gotta go. The "natives" are getting restless. Again. *le sigh*

*stares at the bottle of 18 yr. old single malt Scotch, debating whether or not to pour a few shots*

Yep, you got it. More guests. Nekoyashiki's been real helpful in the cattery (he's pretty much sequestered himself there with his aides who just happen to be his favorite species [yep, :kitty:].) The other staff people/consultants/etc. for Astral have been doing their best to avoid some of my neighbors (especially Sekiren, the Vajrayana Buddhist who also happens to be a martial arts practitioner.) It's lucky that I know some places they can go to find temples/groves/etc. for their individual worship.

Luckily the bizarre postal worker hasn't been a problem when it comes to housing (she doesn't deliver the usual mail, but mail from the "dearly departed", which makes for some rather intriguing situations, y'know.) Ah, she's off again on another delivery. I hope she took the rice balls I had set aside for her trip along with the box of takoyaki (I don't eat octopus.)

There are several more guests here, too many to list at the moment, but that'll change (perhaps after a few stiff drinks...)

Phyllis Sidhe_Uaine

You know what's coming. *sigh* Yep, more guests. Five of them are "singing for their supper" (a rock band) while some of the others are helping out in other ways. Too bad they can't help out with the bills (especially food!) Speaking of which, excuse me...

Don't tell me, let me guess. We ran out of something at the block party. There's more ready to heat up in the freezer. You know the routine.

Hitsugaya had a job this past week (a bartender who was found at the bottom of the stairs at the tavern she worked at, a victim of a botched armed robbery) while Kira had a job involving an eight year old boy. Due to this, we're having a throwtogether block party (Towa and Sado are having fun playing dual electric bass with both of their bands [Towa belongs to Lucifer, Sado sits in on the college band he befriended over the time he's been here].) I've been keeping some of my neighbors away from everybody the best I can (some just don't/can't learn.) Speaking of which...

Wren, please power down. I don't have the funds to replace several walls that will be destroyed by your pulse cannon. Take some time with the :kitty:s. I think you'll have some other company, too.

I have both a bottle of 18-year-old single malt Scotch and a bottle of vodka calling me. I believe I'll answer them.

Fictionalised Alex.
By Alex Parsons.

The morning becomes present, the night falls away to another far distant land where rest is needed, I awaken....

Fin.

'Nuff said. ;)

Or is it? I can't resist:

The center of the story always spirals. Mythological and novel, the dawn keeps attracting these songbirds, the songbirds the dawn. Existence sings us as we sing livelihood into existence.

It just tickled and teased your temptations didn't it brother! :D

It did that to two of my most recent guests (Aine, the lyricist for Lucifer, and Sakuya, lead vocalist and sometime composer for Lucifer) along with your latest post here. Excuse me...

Guys, take your "inspiration" over there, please. There isn't enough room or enough privacy to expound on your inspiration. Thank you.

Gotta go. We ran out of everything but prunes and what the Brits call tomato sauce (Americans call ketchup.) Grocery shopping is such a chore when trying to feed over 200 people three times a day without buying too many premade items.

Phyllis Sidhe_Uaine

They're not Japanese by any chance? Makoto Koshinaka, Yuuki Masahiko, Abe Toru, Daisuke Kato and Taguchi Tomonori? Heard of them lol...

Yes, they are, but here are the names of my guests (along with what instrument he plays):

Sakama Zakuto (Towa) - Bass Guitar
Kiriyu Atsurou - Second Guitar
Tohdo Yukifumi (Yuki) - First Guitar
Nagai Yoshihiko (Santa) - Drums
Ookouchi Sakuya - Lead Vocals, Keyboards (occasionally)

Sakuya called the group you heard of "posers". You can see my guests in the anime/manga Kaikan Phrase if you're interested.
